There is a lot of talent on that roster, but there are holes too, and with the rest of the division pushing they'll be tested.

Ho-Sang to Buffalo be an idea? Scandella and a 3or4th rd pick?
Gavin Lee
6:44
This trade doesn't make a lot of sense for me.
6:45
I mean Ho-Sang cleared waivers, and the Islanders don't want to add bad salary in Scandella.
Da 716
6:45
Think moving Scandella now while hes playing well should be the focus of boterill? Now would be the best time of any to do it
Gavin Lee
6:45
Scandella is definitely the focus right now though.
Willy Nylander

From worst to best contract in NHL in less than a year...agree or disagree?
Gavin Lee
6:46
Well he's definitely not going to best.
I never thought he was the worst either.

With Forsberg hurt Turris has been playing on that line. But other than that Turris has been on the fourth line despite his production. I don’t understand why they don’t want him getting more minutes if productive.
Gavin Lee
6:47
The Predators gave him a lot of opportunity last year and he didn't reward them.
I think his time has run out, when everyone is healthy. They've just moved in a different direction

Over/under 25.5 wins this year?
Gavin Lee
6:47
I'll still take the over.
RFA vs GM
6:48
Going forward, will any GM let a RFA sit out for a full year to stand their ground and limit an overly drastic salary increase?
Gavin Lee
6:48
I imagine you mean a high profile RFA, one like the guys this summer who got huge deals.
I honestly can't see it happening. Guys are trying to get those contracts done early now.
Salaries
6:48
How exactly did we get to where we are with players who have no arb rights getting $10 mil aav contracts?
Gavin Lee
6:49
My question is why exactly do we have a problem with it? These are the players that are providing the most production for a team, why shouldn't the teams be paying them the most?
6:50
It's just because of the idea we have of "leverage" from the previous generation of talent.
Once they all take a stand together, things have to shift.
6:51
Paying Mitch Marner $11MM seems absolutely bonkers right now, I get it. But does paying Loui Eriksson $6MM seem any more reasonable?
I mean at least Marner is the one who will be a good player during that contract.
6:52
The more money that is shifted to players in their prime, the fewer mistake contracts that will be made in unrestricted free agency (hopefully at least).

6:52
Do you see the Golden Knights making a move for a defensive guy or better backup goalie sometime this season?
Gavin Lee
6:53
It's tough because they have stressed their cap so much with the extensions they've handed out.
There isn't a ton of stuff they can do.

hello gavin other than mantha, larkin, bertuzzi. any trade value for any of the other wings forwards?
Zac
6:53
Is Mike Green still an asset at the deadline? He hasnt looked good this year
Gavin Lee
6:54
Green might be an asset, but you should never have gotten your hopes up for much of a return.
As for forwards? Luke Glendening will probably still draw some interest.
Salaries
6:55
Even with a salary cap, seems no business can manage expenses that skyrocket nearly 1000% unless revenues balance. Which they do not. Even the players union seems foolish in allowing 5% of their players to make 80% of the available budgets...this is a cycle that cannot be upheld. Every 3 years these contracts boost and now each year has it's own draft class graduating but past contracts are signed for 5+ years. The math does not add up. NHL could be bankrupt in 5 years??
Gavin Lee
6:55
I'm not sure where you're getting your numbers exactly, but no, the NHL will certainly not be bankrupt in five years.
The entire salary pool can only ever be half of hockey related revenue
6:56
If revenue starts to decline, the cap will as well.
If that squeezes veterans out of the league, or puts a cap on what young players can be offered, so be it. But the NHL is a viable operation.

Leafs trade ______ to shake things up...
Gavin Lee

Nic Petan
Big shake up isn't it
I don't think that big move you want is coming, not any time soon at least
