Don't even think Crosby's second, to be honest.
6:23
Like everyone knows that Leon Draisaitl has 23 points in 11 games right
AJ
6:23
in Their primes?
Gavin Lee
6:23
Interesting
In that case I'd probably take Crosby!
6:24
I know it's hard to remember sometimes now, but Crosby was the same blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of offensive player when he was younger
6:25
In that second year, as a 19 year old, he was just so incredible to watch

Will we trade Korpi any time soon
Gavin Lee
6:25
I don't think anytime soon, but I definitely think he's a deadline move
6:26
I know they can say they want to keep both, they like them both, etc etc
But Merzlikins is the guy

Was there any truth to the package Calgary was offering for Eichel?
Gavin Lee
6:26
So here's my take on that, though a lot of this is just speculation.
6:28
I think what probably happened was Buffalo told them something like, "Tkachuk has to be in it," and Calgary didn't immediately scoff like they acted after the fact. They weren't offering him, like was reported, but the idea that he never came up in talks is absurd.
I think the offer (if there was an formal offer) was probably without him in it, and the Weekes report was leaked from the Buffalo side (or honestly the Eichel camp) to put pressure on Vegas
6:30
All of the "HE WAS NEVER IN IT" afterward has a little "doth protest too much" in it for me.

Gotta feel for chychryn. Is he part of the plan? Seems like light years away before they are relevant again?
Gavin Lee
6:30
He actually seems to be embracing that, not wallowing
I think he sees himself as the core piece to build around, and he believes in what Bill Armstrong has done since arriving
Which frankly is pretty impressive
6:31
They have 7 picks in the top 2 rounds this year
One of them is probably going to be in the top 3, because they'll finish last.
5 second round picks is exactly how you fill a system with talent
Talent that can grow slowly as the team is still bad
6:32
And then hit all at once
They've cleared their books almost entirely
Chychrun, Schmaltz and Keller are the only ones signed past next season
6:33
That path is the same one that Yzerman took in Detroit, and look how it's starting to pay off

So I don’t get dubas. It seemed that we all knew Mrazek was a band aid boy then signed him to that 3 year deal? And the. Ritchie? That was Hyman right there, and reports that he did not even offer Anderson a contract? Man that blew up in his face so far. How would you evaluate dubas so far?
Gavin Lee
6:34
I didn't love the Mrazek deal, but let's remember that before last season his totals were 40/40/39/50/54
That's exactly the type of goaltender they were after, a tandem guy.
6:35
He's not always hurt, he just was for the last like calendar year
But anyway I didn't love that one. Ritchie actually isn't really a bad contract, he just seems like it because the Maple Leafs don't have any other mid-range forwards
6:36
When it's so top-heavy, people focus on him. But say he was on, the Islanders for example. He'd be tied for the 9th highest paid forward on the team
And that's not even including Leo Komarov
6:37
Should he have signed it? Probably not, in hind sight. But you weren't going to get a star on the open market for 2.5
Anderson, meh, they needed to make a change.
Hyman is going to hurt this year, and next year, and then maybe a little less
That contract is not going to age well, I can almost guarantee it

Early thoughts on Canada Olympic team goaltenders (since you have them as the Gold medal favorite)? I would probably go Fleury-Binnington-Hart assuming Price isn't an option.
