I don't hate the idea of Bernier being the third guy, just for his experience (at the NHL level, I guess)

Where is this Ottawa rebuild at in your opinion?  They're finding some guys that maybe weren't on the radar right away, but a lot of the other big names being counted on to push the team forward either can't stay healthy, or seem to have stalled out progression wise.  Still on track, or is this in jeopardy?

I think it's pretty much on track
They didn't take the big step some were projecting, but the team is still so young and has so much talent coming

Don't forget about Jake Sanderson.
Adding that kind of guy can really stabilize a whole defense corps, moving everyone into their correct spots

I still don't think he's a #1, but if he's Mattias Ekholm, for instance. That's certainly a guy who can change the look of a team

Why are the leafs so eager to trade a dman.   They only have 7 nhl dman and you know one of them will get hurt.

It's just cap stuff. They have no room to change anything else if they don't move a defenseman
