I'm also quite high on Konsta Helenius out of Finland, can see him making the jump to the league earlier than most think. In terms of a good value pick in the 7-15 range, look no further than Berkly Catton out of WHL Spokane. Not quite as confident in him as Eiserman/Helenius, but I'd place a solid bet on him to turn out as a high-end top-6er
Not quite as sold on Cayden Lindstrom as a lot of others.

In terms of top-pairing D, I do think Levshunov has it in him, as do Buium (who I mentioned earlier) and Zayne Parekh out of OHL Saginaw who's starting to get significant top-10 love. He'll be a great value pick if he falls past 5

Rank the Canadian teams in chances of winning it all this year?
Josh Erickson

Man this is such a difficult one
1:01
I'm still very concerned about Edmonton's bottom six, for one. That's been a pretty consistent hallmark. Henrique is a nice add but Evander Kane's disastrous defensive season almost negates him entirely if you keep him on the first line
I think I might actually have them last because of it. I know Vancouver is young, but I'm too wary of counting out playoff Demko (bubble Thatcher was a scary sight)

I'd have to go WPG, EDM, TML, VAN. But it could probably change my person easily.
Josh Erickson
1:02
I would have this but flip Edmonton and Vancouver
Winnipeg is the most well-rounded of the four, that's for sure

What is the vision of the Wild long term?
Josh Erickson
1:02
They have a lot of very-good-but-not-game-breaker prospects
1:03
I see the prime of this core being very similar to the mid-2010s Wild that were routinely hitting 100 points but had offense vanish in the playoffs. Although they do have one game-breaker in Wallstedt, I was thinking skaters. He'll have the ability to carry a team all the way

Brent Burns HHoF chances?
Josh Erickson
1:05
Not first-ballot but should be in eventually. I think if he wins a Cup with CAR that seals it
1:06
Paul Pidutti (@AdjustedHockey on twt/X) has a great system for defining player's cases. Has Burns as slightly exceeding the HHOF standard

speaking of BIG Fish.  Do you foresee the Red Wings going fishing this summer?  If so,  Who do they go after.  They need scoring
Josh Erickson
1:06
They need a defenseman
Throwing Seider to the wolves like they have is inhumane. They need someone to relieve some of those minutes so he can do his thing
1:07
The Seider-Walman pairing has the most difficult usage of any pairing in the league this season. Petry is not cutting it. Maatta is a great shutdown guy but not for over 20 minutes a game. I get they have some guys coming, but that's too much pressure to put on them immediately.
1:08
The problem is... other than Hanifin (who I do think will extend), not sure who else is out there on the market this summer
Brodie's too old. I think Brett Pesce would be the dream

1:09
Edvinsson is that defenseman
Josh Erickson
1:09
Eventually, but not if they want to make the playoffs next year. He needs someone to develop alongside

Hronek?
Josh Erickson
1:09
He's RFA, not UFA
1:10
I think he's getting overpaid this summer too. Good top four guy but not worth the 7 mil we're starting to hear

Had an awesome deadline. Losing O'Connor for the year stings. But Sean Walker... what a pickup so far
1:12
Don't get why they're burying him with Jack Johnson though. He's been much more effective with Girard in limited minutes (and Girard has benefitted because of it). If Girard can get back to playing at a high level that's a huge X-factor
1:13
Goaltending is becoming less of a concern. Georgiev is getting hot at the right time. Central is impossible to predict and will be a bloodbath in the first two rounds
I think whoever comes out of that division is winning the Cup

Can Shane Wright live up to being the 1st 4th overall pick?
Josh Erickson
1:15
We'll see! I'm not sure about top 5, but I do think he's at least going down as a top 10 guy 20 years from now. He still has a long career ahead of him. He's looked great (not elite) in the minors. Not sure he makes the team out of camp next season, but would be shocked if he's not a full-timer by 2025-26.

When will The Isles finally get rid of Lou? And do you see them making big changes next year maybe trading a defenseman and Lee to get younger.
Josh Erickson
1:16
They'll sign Robert Bortuzzo to a three-year, $1MM AAV deal and sign the CHL's leader in penalty minutes as an undrafted free agent and call it a day
1:17
Unless Lou is fired, that is. They need an extremely aggressive retool. Not a full rebuild... you keep Barzal/Horvat/Dobson/Sorokin together under any circumstances, but everyone else should be shopped (even Nelson, 32 years old and only one year left on his deal after this)

2nd in Calder? Heart says Hughes but head says Faber
Josh Erickson
1:18
Faber and it's not particularly close
I'm not in the Faber > Bedard camp (which is pretty much any Wild fan you ask), but he has been incredible. Gap between him and whoever finishes 3rd is wider than the gap between him and Bedard
