PHR Live Chat: Post-Deadline Special

Well I don't exactly reveal them, but the craziest thing I've done at PHR was the 2016 day (June 29), where there was the Subban for Weber deal, the Hall for Larsson deal and the Stamkos extension all within about a 10 minute span
We had only even been a site for a few weeks, and I was not prepared for that. Haha
6:25
For this year's deadline? The Leddy deal was exciting for me personally, because it's what I hinted at in our PHR Panel a couple of days earlier.

What can Toronto do about their goalie situation now that Sateri is off to Arizona?
Gavin Lee
6:26
Have to hope Campbell comes back as November Campbell instead of January Campbell
It's honestly just praying for that at this point. I don't think Mrazek or Kallgren are going to win a round, let alone a Cup

How do you think Sateri will perform in his return to the NHL? Could he remain in North America following this season?
Gavin Lee
6:27
It's a good question, I'm not even sure what is going to happen with him in Arizona--I imagine he didn't expect he'd be playing on a bottom feeder when he decided to come back
6:28
I don't have a ton of belief in him as an NHL netminder, to be honest, so going to Arizona probably doesn't help his chances of staying here
He's also 32, remember.

Told my wife I’m going to have a mustache in solidarity with Forsberg until the Preds sign him. How long can she expect for me to have this thing or should I prepare to wear it forever?
Gavin Lee
6:29
Well, since they say they've tabled things for the time being so he can focus on the playoff run--you might want to rethink it
(GMs do say this all the time before announcing extensions, so perhaps you'll be okay. But just buy her some flowers or something in case)

Do you think the Kings could add Filip Forsberg in the off season? That would make them real good don't you think?
Gavin Lee
6:30
I don't doubt they would target him if he reached free agency. Remember how close he is with Arvidsson

In Canes Country, we always hear about how Necas is still very young and to give him time.  Except he's not really that young and we have 19-20 year olds that are already more steady on the puck.  Is it time to move on?
Gavin Lee
6:31
As a card carrying Necas truther, I will always advise to stay the course with him
But I do agree that he has been a little frustrating this season
6:32
I think there would be about 20 teams lining up if the Hurricanes wanted to move on though.

Sorry back to the VGK trade, so essentially this feels like the whole issue is a filing problem on Ottawas end. If true, do you think they have any repercussions?
Gavin Lee
6:33
I honestly don't know what kind of repercussions this would have, I've never even really heard of this before.

The thing people bring up is Berglund, who let his no-trade expire without submitted a list, and then was traded to Buffalo
But that was his/his agents fault, not a team that hasn't even had the player for nine months
The phrase that Friedman used "led to believe" is the tricky one here for me.
6:34
It sounds to me like the Senators, perhaps because they thought he hadn't, flat out told the NHL/Vegas that his clause was voided.
That is...something the NHL should be verifying, for one thing, and just...who knows?

which players are you suprised didnt get traded?
Gavin Lee
6:36
That's a good question. Not surprised by Chychrun or Klingberg, even though we've been talking about them so much
I thought Vancouver would move one of Boeser/Garland, that's one that surprised me
I thought New Jersey would sell Vesey (I know, not very exciting)
6:37
Just thought they would do more in general
Oh Kubalik, that's one that I thought was going to move

Do you foresee a Petry trade to Detroit this summer.  He still has his family living in metro Detroit.
Gavin Lee
6:38
I do think this is possible for the family reasons, but I just don't exactly see how the Red Wings are the landing spot for Petry
The Canadiens want to hold out for a real return, and why would Detroit do that?
What do they even need petry for?

If the leafs are out in the first round cause of bad goaltending is dubas fired for not doing anything about it and chances of them getting Gibson or binnington in the off season
Gavin Lee
6:39
I think the chance of either goaltender coming next offseason is very low
But no, to be honest, I don't think Dubas will be fired if they're out in the first round. I've kind of maintained that for a while
6:40
I don't think his seat is all that hot. His team is really good, the front office has made a ton of good moves, he's both gone all-in at the deadline and been more reserved, the scouting/development staff he has built is very good
I know fans want to see heads roll if there isn't playoff success, I just don't think that's the case here.
