He's an excellent player no doubt, but I'm not nearly as sold that he's a first pairing all-situations guy.
6:53
It's a pretty good return for a player who you needed to trade though.
After they pulled him off the ice for a week.
6:54
For Vegas, why not cash in a chip like Brannstrom if you're getting Stone on a long term deal.
He's a top-10 winger in the NHL
HOCKEY!!
6:54
Any word on Joel Quennville? Do you see him ending up coaching by 19-20 in the NHL?
Gavin Lee
6:54
Last I heard he was enjoying life.
His name will certainly pop up a lot this summer.
If he wants to coach, he'll have a job by the end of that day.

Are you surprised Dubas only made one minor trade
Gavin Lee
6:55
A little surprised I guess, but I didn't think the Maple Leafs would be big movers at the deadline.
If they weren't willing to trade Liljegren, Sandin, Kapanen or Johnsson what else is there that really moves the needle?
Matt
6:57
Who is your pick for the two WC wildcard spots?
Gavin Lee
6:57
Colorado and Arizona.
(But my prediction means very little)
Matt
6:58
Which team were you surprised didn't do as much at the deadline as you thought they could/should?
Gavin Lee
6:58
The Islanders.
I guess Calgary can go into that category as well.
But they tried, hard.
Chris

Seems like the Avs got Brassard for nothing. Were there really that few teams interested?
Gavin Lee
6:59
This move also confused me. Not sure why every single contender wasn't in on this to be honest, even though his game has dropped off
7:00
I mean Brian Boyle has cost a second two out of the last three years
Andre
7:00
Surprised islanders stood pat? Do you see them going after Panarin or duchene?
Gavin Lee
7:00
I bet they will be in on both of those players if they reach July 1, yes.
7:01
And I'm surprised they did nothing.
I would have sold, a little bit. But I guess the market wasn't very hot.
Playoffs
7:01
Arizona??? They have a better chance of ending up in Houston than the playoffs
Gavin Lee
7:01
Ha, this made me laugh.
7:02
I'd say a team on a hot streak just a few points behind a bunch of mediocre teams has a fine chance.
Mike
7:02
Which noncontender set themselves up best for the future?
Gavin Lee
7:02
I know people are going to laugh at this, but I actually think the Red Wings are doing a pretty good job.
7:03
But it has to be the Rangers.
That team is going to be good really quickly.
Coyotes fan

Don't forget some of our injured guys coming back is as good as a deadline acquisition

Do you like the way the NHL draft is done? If you finish with the worst record you only have an 18% chance of getting the 1st overall pick. Does not seem fair. How far can you fall if you have the worst record?
Gavin Lee
7:04
You can only drop to 4th, and that's if three teams win the lottery over you.
Remember it's an 18% chance of getting 1st, but a much higher to get one of the top 3.
I don't hate it.
It might not be perfect, but I don't think it's really broken.
