I actually don't think it will happen now, which isn't what I would have said a month ago.
Seems like McPhee is taking a hard line.
They've already had to shed so much salary (and still need to) that if he wants $4MM I think it'll have to be elsewhere.

I'm still not ready to rule out the Maple Leafs as the eventual landing spot--even though I know that still sounds silly with their situation right now.
Dark horse teams to get involved, sure--once he actually opens up to the market there will be plenty of teams interested.

Even teams like Detroit or Anaheim could add him, letting them trade out someone else or flip him down the line.
He's a valuable player.

Yes, Dallas is a good call--at least through free agency alone.
The others have made trades to really improve.

I know lots of people will say Florida but I just don't see the huge improvement coming from the actual roster additions--it might come from the coaching staff but I can't really quantify that right now

Have to love the Predators still, they have a shot to take it.

Winnipeg probably takes a slight step back, but missing the playoffs would be surprising.

Blues are in for a little regression from the second half I'd think, but if Binnington is the real deal they'll be there all year.

Dallas has added that punch on the right side they've needed and I think Heiskanen might challenge for the Norris.

Colorado is an absolute powerhouse brimming under the surface.
All that, and I actually think the Blackhawks are going to be really competitive!

You didn't mention Vancouver as one of the top improved teams. Do you disagree that adding Myers, JT Miller, Ferland, and Hughes, Benn isn't enough to say they are top 4 improved? (I agree with Jersey and Rangers)

Yeah they've improved, but I mean I think three of those players probably don't push the needle all that far.
Hughes is a dynamo and putting Miller and Ferland in the lineup will change it. But Benn is never going to have the same impact he did last season and Myers is a timebomb.
