Depends on if he signs an extension, but they'll probably get one really good asset plus another lottery ticket type.
Like a good prospect and mid-round pick, or a top pick and middling prospect
Don't think there's a lot more than that, even with the extension.

With Q.Hughes returning to Michigan should Vancouver be looking for a power play specialist on D to compliment the young guns up front?
Gavin Lee
6:25
I saw a funny image today of someone who had put together all the times Jim Benning said that he was looking for a PP quarterback.
He's been looking since he got the job. It's really hard.
6:26
I don't think they need to be adding anything for this year really. Just wait on the young guys to develop, keep adding futures.

What else would the Canadiens have to include in a Pacioretty for Panarin trade?
Gavin Lee
6:27
I mean I'm not sure why this deal would happen. With an extension for both you mean?
If that's the case, a whole bunch.
Panarin is a huge upgrade over Pacioretty in terms of creating offense.

I think the Pittsburgh Penguins are done
Gavin Lee
6:28
I would disagree.

What is Carolina gonna do with all those defensive guys?
Gavin Lee
6:29
I still expect a Justin Fault trade at some point, but I'm not really sure.
They have so much money tied up on defense now.
6:30
Was not expecting de Haan to sign there.

What do you think Will Bill Karlsson gets at his arb hearing?
Gavin Lee
6:31
One-year, $5MM
McKenny
6:31
T.Heed is a spare part in SJ who is UFA after this season. Not a huge track record but price would probably be reasonable.
Gavin Lee
6:32
Sure, if you think that helps then he's a fine target. Wouldn't cost a ton for Vancouver. Just not sure what it would really accomplish.
EJ
6:32
Wouldn't a Justin Faulk for RNH swap make sense for both teams?
Gavin Lee
6:32
A few months ago I would have said yes, but I think Edmonton wants to keep Nugent-Hopkins next to McDavid now that it worked so well.
6:33
Edmonton is a tough one though because of how much their four guys already earn.
They need Klefbom to get back to where he was in 2016-17

Who loses out of Matthews, Marner and Nylander in Toronto’s contract negotiations?
Gavin Lee
6:34
I'm not sure what "loses" means in this context.
Who earns the lowest salary? Nylander would be the best bet. But it depends on term
McKenny
6:35
E.Bouchard. 9 game trial or does he stick with the Oilers.
Gavin Lee
6:35
I wouldn't be surprised if he lasts more than 9 games but fewer than 40, to be honest.
6:36
But I'd send him back 100%
Sam
6:36
Who doesn’t get the contract they want. Because they won’t sign all three to what they want/deserve surely.
Gavin Lee
6:37
I'm still not really sure what you mean. All three will negotiate to get the best they can, it's not like two will sign and the third will say "Oh darn, I waited too long now I'll take $2MM"
6:38
Probably none of the three will get what they WANT..but all three will get big contracts.

Holy cow
There had been some rumblings but I didn't know that is what it would be.
Chris
6:40
Might the Sabres be rolling the dice on big improvement this year with the possibility of flipping him at the deadline if not?
Gavin Lee
6:40
Yeah and they didn't have to wager very much.
