As for Zegras, you have to hope he's playing deep into the NCAA tournament, but if he's not and they can convince him to sign why not get him straight into games.
He's already a great talent.

Did Toronto make a mistake signing Matthewsto that insane contract and it seems like it is a real burden for every other team with quality RFA’s
Gavin Lee
6:27
What does Toronto care if it burdens other teams?
6:28
They're worried about their guys, and avoiding all this hoopla with Matthews was a must.
I'm not surprised by the Marner stuff and I don't think it really changes if Matthews signs a different deal, or if he is also unsigned.
Also I'm not so sure it's as insane as you say, but that's another topic altogether.

what impact do you see from Priskie signing?
Gavin Lee
6:29
How Carolina convinced him to sign I'm not sure.
There were certainly better opportunities for him out there.
I think he's basically Justin Faulk insurance.
6:30
If they can't get an extension with him they can move on and give Priskie a shot.
There is so much other talent that he doesn't even need to really hit to be a successful signing.

Why thornton hasnt signed yet with san jose ? You think that they’re trying to acquire a forward via trade ?
Gavin Lee
6:36
I'm not sure it's a forward that they're trying to get, but there must be something on the burner. There's no rush on Thornton. They'll give him a deal with whatever they have left at the end of the summer.
He's going to sign.
(If I had to guess they're still working the phones for a different backup goaltender, but I can't be sure.)

Does it seem like the delay with J. Williams make his return seem more unlikely
Gavin Lee
6:36
Like Thornton, I don't think the delay means anything really.
6:37
If Williams is coming back, it's almost certainly with Carolina.
He's just enjoying the offseason.
Remember that Carolina doesn't have a ton of space either though.

Sabres trading any of their d-men? Is their plan to just try to accrue as much talent as possible and worry about how it all shakes out down the road?
Gavin Lee
6:38
There will be a bigger market for some of their veteran guys once the RFA market starts to crack, and right now it's not the worst position to be in.
The Sabres aren't dying for cap space because they don't have anyone to sign, and they can dictate the trade market if it opens.
Imagine someone important goes down in training camp.
Buffalo has to be one of your first calls.
6:39
I do expect them to move at least one before the start of the season.

6:39
If Faulk is traded, what kind of return would be expected?  Sure hope it's better than the nSkinner deal.
Gavin Lee
6:40
What was Skinner, a 2nd, 3rd and Pu?
Yeah it might not be a lot more than that, sorry to burst your bubble.
One year left, partial no-trade clause, high-risk playstyle
6:41
If they play it right maybe he can get them a 1st at the deadline, but I wouldn't want to pay it.

6:41
Do either of Dach or Bovqist play in the NHL this year?
Gavin Lee
6:41
I actually think Dach has a chance, as crazy as that might sound.
6:42
But I'd be shocked if Boqvist sees any real time.

6:43
HAAA no bubble here. I think he gone soon.  Just seems like there is a line in Charlotte ready for their chance.  If he won't take a home town discount, I can see the owner saying bye.
Gavin Lee
6:43
If the team has shown anything over the last couple of offseasons, it's that if extension talks aren't going well they won't hesitate to move on.
6:44
Carolina has a ton of talent coming, as you say. They could move him and probably not lose much if anything.

Is Bean ready, or would he benefit from another year in the A?
