O'Reilly I think is an excellent addition for a team like St. Louis though, and he should thrive in that situation.
6:25
Ridding themselves of salary in Sobotka and Berglund was good, but I was higher on Thompson than some.
6:26
I think St. Louis is better, but I'm not sure that they're instantly Cup contenders like some seem to be speculating.
Much of that comes down to Jake Allen of course.
Probably the most interesting person to watch for me in St. Louis though is Robby Fabbri, who looked like a dynamite player before his injuries.

Do you see the Preds adding a power forward like Simmonds during the season? Seems like they were missing that element against the Jets in the playoffs.
Gavin Lee
6:27
It's hard to match up physically with the Jets for anyone, and I don't think they'll address it specifically because of that.
6:28
But the Predators are always lurking out there to add well rounded players during the season.
Someone like Simmonds definitely wouldn't surprise me.

Where’s all the love for Clayton Keller? I didn’t expect him to make top 20 wingers list on nhl.com but he wasn’t even mentioned in their young wingers to watch out for. Am I being a homer or what?
Gavin Lee
6:28
You're definitely not being a homer.
6:30
Keller is a stud, and should be considered right up there with that young group just behind Laine.
I think he can be everything for Arizona that Mitch Marner is for Toronto, or Sebastian Aho is for Carolina.
Durych
6:31
Laine, Pasternak, Marner, DeBrincat, Zadina and svechnikov are the ones mentioned I think Keller deserves to be on that list as well.
Gavin Lee
6:31
He definitely does, especially if a list includes players who've yet to make their debut.

Columbus is interesting. Like Bjorkstrand if he can get top 6 minutes and PP time. Your thoughts
Gavin Lee
6:32
They're a really solid team, and players like Bjorsktrand could make a huge difference if Panarin is moved at some point.
6:33
Remember that in 2016-17 without Panarin, Atkinson had 35 goals, Wennberg had 46 assists..
There are lots of good players on that team who would benefit from the offense being spread around a bit.
6:34
That doesn't necessarily mean they'd be better overall, since Panarin is an elite talent, but they wouldn't fall off a cliff either.

Is my signing of Jack Johnson the worst signing of the offseason?
Gavin Lee
6:35
I don't think it's the absolute worst..
Okay maybe it's the worst.
But the Canucks and Islanders both have something to say about that.

Do you think James Neal, Elias Lindholm or someone else will start on the Gaudreau/Monahan line?
Gavin Lee
6:37
I think it will be Lindholm, to get a right-handed shot on that line. More and more teams are going to a system where two players take faceoffs for their top group, and Lindholm is the perfect fit for that with Monahan.
Who knows if it works out chemistry wise, but he's a nice fit in theory.
The other thing for me, is a line with both Matthew Tkachuk and James Neal on it would be extremely hard to play against, while still being able to score..a lot.

Will Connor get a similar deal to Nylander?
Gavin Lee
6:38
We'll have to see what Nylander gets before answering that.
6:39
Connor is definitely on track to be paid like that group.
A GOAT named Crosby
6:39
The biggest trade chip the Pens have is...
Gavin Lee
6:40
I mean the biggest chip they have is Sidney Crosby.
The one that is actually possibly used? As much as Jarry looks good, goaltenders rarely bring back big packages.
Brassard would be a good rental for someone at the deadline, and Maatta still has a lot of value on the blue line.
Maybe the Kessel stuff starts up again.
6:41
I didn't think they'd re-sign Hornqvist, because Guentzel needs a new deal, but here we are.

6:41
How do you think Ilya Kovalchuk will do back in the NHL? Will it be difficult for him with all the speed now in the league?
Gavin Lee
6:42
I'm not sure where everyone is getting the fact that Kovalchuk can't skate anymore.
He's older, but it's not like he'll be Jason Allison out there.
