What I really worry about in Edmonton, is actually having more success going forward.
They underperformed last season, and I don't see it happening very often with McDavid in his prime.

I personally don't think his defense is good enough to log top-pair minutes just yet, but he almost certainly will by some point this season (if not game 1).

And that defense doesn't have a lot of those.
I'd still bet on Svechnikov to finish ahead of him on the Calder ballot.

I think only you know that for certain, but I'd be shocked if it's anything of real substance. Probably that it's been a difficult summer, but you're looking forward to getting on the ice with the team, and that you don't want to talk about the situation with Mike Hoffman or the specifics of contract negotiations.
