If Forsberg doesn't work, then you can bring up Reimer and you still have that cap space banked.
But I'm sure Brind'Amour will fight to have the best two names.

Hearing sorokin will be coming for sure next year. What is his eventual upside
Gavin Lee
6:25
Hearing from who?
6:26
I think there is a good chance that he does, but until he signs a contract I wouldn't hold your breath.
As for upside? He can be an immediate starter in the NHL, though I'm not sure he's a Vezina-type.

What are the chances Hoffman gets dealt. And where? I always though he would be a great wingman for mcdavid
Gavin Lee
6:27
That would be a great fit, actually.
6:28
I thought it was definitely going to happen earlier in the summer, but I wonder if the Panthers will wait to see what happens in the first few weeks of the season before making a decision
Edmonton would be great, but they can't afford him.
6:29
He would be a nice fit in Boston, but they also don't have a ton of room and are in the division.
Can't be San Jose because of his history with Karlsson, even though he could help them.
6:30
Columbus maybe, if they feel they need to add some scoring.
John L
6:31
What are your comparables for lafrienie and byfield for next season draft?
Gavin Lee
6:32
When you look at Byfield you might want to say like a Lindros or Malkin or one of those big physical centers that can shield the puck, but he's not exactly that.
6:33
I actually think he probably works better when he gets up his speed and can weave in and around guys using his reach, instead of working out of the corners.
6:34
Not sure who I'd say is an exact comparable.
Lafreniere? He's something else entirely.
He's not Crosby, he's not McDavid, he's not Hughes, he's not even Eichel
Not that he can't get to that level, but he just goes about things his own way
6:35
One of the most interesting thing about his game to me is how he actually limits his speed at times to create openings for himself.
6:36
Not just full tilt all the time, but probing and slowing and probing and falling away from the defense, all while keeping his head on a swivel
He's got more goal scoring in him than Mat Barzal, but the same understanding of the game
Mike
6:36
If necas and zadina fan. Do they start the season with the big club? And what do you see them doing
Gavin Lee
6:37
Personally I think Zadina has some more learning to do to round out his game, but maybe that happened over the summer.
These kids can take big steps, I'd have to see him play.
6:38
I'm also a big Necas fan, and think he's ready to make an impact, but things are suddenly kind of crowded in Carolina
6:39
I think he's got a good shot, but where exactly does he fit in, unless you're moving Haula or him to the wing
Even then there are a lot of options there.

GMBM - said the Caps would make a deal before the season what are potential moves could it be made
Gavin Lee
6:39
He did, though he also said he'd wait to see if injuries made his decision for him.
6:40
The only move that really stands out to me is Gudas, since they like the kids and Kempny is planning on being ready for game 1
I just don't know who you'd really move up front, other than Stephenson I guess.
You just signed Hathaway, Panik and Hagelin, you're not moving any of the big-4 or Vrana
6:41
I guess Lars Eller, but the team loves having those three centers.

Does Byram make the opening night roster?
Gavin Lee
6:41
See above!
John L
6:41
Really like Sam girard. With all the changes what kind of upside do you see him having? 30-40 pets seem reasonable
Gavin Lee
6:41
I think if he was put in the right situation 40 points is definitely reasonable, not sure he's going to see it on Colorado though.
6:42
Cale Makar is going to see a huge amount of powerplay time this season, as much as he can handle
