Gavin Lee

He has some incredible talent, but he's not the same kind of talent as some of the other guys who've stepped right in.

Do you think bruins go after Panarin ?
Gavin Lee
7:06
If they're in the hunt, I think they'll be adding at the deadline yes.
7:07
I'm both not sure Panarin will even be available, and not sure if they would want to part with the assets for the top option on the market.
It's not like they have a pressing need on the top line, which is where Panarin belongs.

It's probably way too early for this question, but which likely future #1 overall pick are you most excited about: Jack Hughes or Alexis Lafreniere?
Gavin Lee
7:08
Never too early for wild speculation!
Seriously though, Lafreniere excites me more.
That doesn't mean he'll be a better player, or even necessarily the first overall pick--obviously leading right now, but no guarantee.
But I really, really like watching him play.
7:09
Hughes too is dominant on the ice. Just not quite as exciting for me.

7:09
What 3 teams do you predict win the lottery this year?
Gavin Lee
7:10
This seems like an unanswerable question.
It's literally a lottery.
7:11
Who will have the best odds? Islanders-Senators-Canucks, in some order.
(Would be my prediction)
Zac
7:12
Have you made your award predictions?
Gavin Lee
7:12
I have not, I don't really ever make those predictions, other than on a whim in these chats.
7:13
I'll give you a fun slightly-off-the-board Norris prediction though--Ivan Provorov.
Bruise
7:14
Wilson knocks out Sundqvist, then the caps take Jaskin off waivers. That’s a weird trade. Is Jaskin just a body until Wilson returns? Do you see him getting more than minutes in DC than STL?
Gavin Lee
7:14
Not necessarily just a body, but definitely helps until Wilson gets back.
Jaskin is a good fit for Washington in the bottom half of the lineup
7:15
Don't think he gets a huge opportunity though.

How do the next few drafts look depth wise? It seems like we have a clear number 1 next year, but how's the rest look?
Gavin Lee
7:15
The depth of the whole draft is beyond my expertise, since I'm not actually travelling all the time to see these kids.
But next year at least, the first round looks to have a LOT of talent.
7:16
Everyone is saying it's the Jack Hughes draft, but there is going to be several franchise-type players at the top.
7:18
When everyone starts seeing Kaapo Kakko, there will be a Laine-Matthews debate.
One is clearly ahead, but some will doubt if it's the right choice.
7:19
Last one..

7:19
How good is the Hawks young talent and are they really as bad people are saying?
Gavin Lee
7:19
I imagine you mean is the team as bad as people are saying.
No, probably not.
7:20
But I don't think they make the playoffs this season.
Their young talent is good, but I'm not sure I see a real elite player among them.
7:21
I'm not a huge Boqvist guy, and even Debrincat I think is a very-good player, not an elite one.
Jokiharju might have the best chance.
7:22
Alright guys that's it for this week!
Good luck to all your favorite teams this year.
