It's funny though, because his big goal total this year is actually a result of an even bigger shooting percentage swing in the opposite direction.
I don't think he's a 30-goal player.
Still, with Drouin beside him there's no reason why he can't slot into the 2C role behind Kotkaniemi eventually and put up those 55-60 points you're suggesting.

Will Sorokin come over next year? I think he’s the Isles best shot at a franchise goalie, but I worry that he’ll stay in the KHL

From what I understand, Sorokin is signed through 2019-20
Now with the KHL there is always the possibility of a buyout, but it's less likely for young players.

I think it was a positive development on that front to get Lamoriello into the front office though.

I know this is crazy to say, just a couple of months into the season, but I'm not sure it's worth trading for someone at this point.

Who out there doesn't come with a huge price, and is a legitimate upgrade on him every single night?

Bobrovsky? Too expensive, no long-term fit. Howard? Almost as streaky. Reimer? Not as good. Murray? Huge injury questions and still probably too pricey.

They've scored 53 goals in 24 games.

But they've made a decision to bring him along slowly it seems.
That's not a bad thing.

I do wonder if they'll start to unleash him in the second half, given their need for a real goal scorer.
But next year I imagine you see him plastered on the first or second line and getting 16+ minutes on a regular basis.
