I'm not sure how you can send Donato down after his pre-Christmas performance, but they have a long-term plan for him.
They might want him to be getting big minutes down there.

which Habs trade do you think has worked out best, the return for Gaky it the return for MaxPac (taking Suzuki's potential in to consideration)?
Gavin Lee
6:56
Well right now it has to be the Galchenyuk deal, given Domi's success.
6:57
But really, turning one year of Pacioretty into Suzuki, a 2nd and Tatar is an incredible swindle.

What do you thinks the Penguins will do with Derrick Brassard?  What players will Penguins be looking at coming closer to the deadline?
Gavin Lee
6:59
Boy, what has happened to Derick Brassard.
7:00
If they can swap him in a deal like the other two they've made, I think they have to look at it.
He's just obviously not a fit on that team.
And at his lowered price there will be some interest.
7:01
They certainly can't re-sign him now.
As for players they may be looking at
Even though Jim Rutherford is saying that they have the answer to Tom Wilson in Garret Wilson, I'm not buying it.
7:02
I could see them going after a big body that can play, even if he doesn't necessarily fight often.
A guy like Brian Boyle, who would also help their center depth issue, is a perfect fit in my mind.
7:03
You wonder if Patrick Maroon could be another option.

Thanks for doing this. It's good to hear hockey without drinking g the Kool aide from team reps.

Thank you for reading! It's my pleasure to do these.

7:04
Does Shero ship out MarJo at the trade deadline?
Gavin Lee
7:04
If the Devils don't turn it around, I would imagine so.
7:05
The team can retain some of his cap hit to make it more palatable, but his versatility will be intriguing to teams.
7:06
Buyer beware though, he's historically not been at his best in the playoffs.

What type of contract do you see Panarin signing in the offseason?
Gavin Lee
7:06
So Panarin is an interesting one to me, because he obviously values things a bit differently than most players. The way he's gone about this contract situation isn't like most, and I wonder if he tries to go a different direction in the summer too.
7:07
Perhaps he'll go for a shorter deal with a bigger cap hit, in order to make sure he can control his future again down the line.
If he doesn't get good enough offers from his preferred destinations at least, wherever those may be.
7:08
But regardless, he's going to sign a franchise-changing contract, one that a team will have to plan around.
It'll make him one of the highest paid players in the league next season.

Is this Justin Williams last year. (See old and slow)
Gavin Lee
7:10
Boy the way this season has gone, Williams can't be pleased with that posisbility.
possibility..
I think he'll get interest, but it will be up to him how his book ends.
Thanks guys, great chat.
I'll see you next week!

Happy New Year!
