But wouldn't it be something to see him start for the Golden Knights against the Kings in a playoff series.
Cito's Mustache
6:09
Surprised that the Leafs didn't flip one of their 9 NHL-caliber d-men for a forward?
Gavin Lee
6:10
Not so much surprised at that specific outcome, but a little that they didn't do something else today
I don't know if I've ever seen a team make such a drastic change to their group at this pint, when they are already a good team
Maybe it works, I just am a little shocked by the Maple Leafs whole few weeks
Chip
6:11
How can the league peddle that they don’t have a tanking problem when, in the last 12 months, Arizona has added three contracts for players who will never suit up for the team just to reach the cap floor
Gavin Lee
6:12
So there's one thing that I learned a while ago, that I think would help a lot of fans reframe stuff like this.
The league's first priority is turning small markets into big ones.
Everything it does, is to benefit the smaller markets
Everything
So when it sends out a memo about LTIR shenanigans, but doesn't talk about LTIR cap floor shenanigans, that's why
6:13
One benefits big markets, and one benefits small
Gary Bettman's job is not to make the most fair league
It's to increase value of NHL franchises
6:14
Everything that helps make Arizona a winner, helps every owner in the league make money
Chip
6:14
Are you surprised that 18 months after being very public about wanting to add grit and toughness the Rangers made such big additions in the offensive skill department? Do you think Drury regrets dealing away Buchnevich?
Gavin Lee
6:15
I would say he has certainly learned some lessons about player values, in the time he's spent at the top
But the big and strong thing was an owner-led initiative, not Drury
Will Smith
6:16
The Flyers in the past week have given away a player for nothing, swapped 4th liners (and gained a 5th rounder), then traded a 4th liner for a 6th. Am I rightfully disappointed in the inactivity, or is there some justification to Fletcher's inaction?
Gavin Lee
6:16
You are rightfully diappointed.
I don't care what he said today, the idea that he couldn't get a late round pick for JVR is bunk
He couldn't get what he thought he should get
6:17
But "no one made an offer" is just silly. No one made an offer because interested parties were told too high a price
I don't think Chuck Fletcher is long for that job
Not just because of today
6:18
Because of how it is obviously becoming Tortorella's team
Justin
6:18
which two teams make the playoffs between Pittsburgh, NYI, Ottawa, and Buffalo? Maybe throw in Florida as well.
Gavin Lee
6:19
I think the Sabres probably just barely miss
Senators might be there but it's hard to judge off one hot streak
Pittsburgh has a good path
I'll say Pitt and Ottawa

Avs….. we’re good, if 92 and 8 are healthy…. But man, way too quiet of a deadline for this team,
Gavin Lee
6:21
They didn't have the draft capital to do it, I don't think
They have their 1sts, but lots of other pieces missing
I think Sakic probably knows its not his year to repeat, and will make his move in the summer instead
Chris
6:22
Which team do you feel could've done a little bit more to solidify themselves?
Gavin Lee
6:22
I did not like Dallas' deadline.
Domi and Dadonov are both players that I would have avoided, probably.
And I think that group has a legitimate shot at winning the west
Chip
6:23
David Quinn didn’t have any use for Vlad Namestnikov when they were in NY, what was the point in adding him to a San Jose team that’s going nowhere?
