With all of their assets, do you see the Islanders making a big move today? Last day to impress Tavares (besides making the playoffs).
Gavin Lee
11:07
I don't think trades directly affect his decision.
11:08
Playoff success will, but selling the future hurts if you don't make it and then he walks.
Here's the thing. The Islanders just aren't an elite team this year.
They can score a ton.
11:09
But the idea of them getting to the Finals?
Even with a big addition on defense, they still have trouble in net. Big addition in both will cost them, and might not even work.
The idea of "going for it" because Tavares is a UFA doesn't really make sense.
11:10
Even if they make the playoffs and win a round...doesn't he just look down and think "Wait, we traded how much to get there?"
Tough situation there.

11:10
Do the Kings make any bigger types moves today or is Jeff Carter their “deadline pickup”
Gavin Lee
11:10
I'd say Carter and Phaneuf are their pickups.
11:11
But they're definitely in talks about other forwards. Not sure if they'll go anywhere.

Should I be worried Bowman is going to trade DeBrincat today to shed some salary (Seabrook?)  That seems to be his MO...
Gavin Lee
11:11
Doubt it very much.
Barry
11:11
Gotcha. Was confused by what you said earlier. On another note, can the Rangers get enough back in a deal for Zucc to make it worth trading him? I feel like teams might not be as high on him as the should be based on his numbers.
Gavin Lee
11:12
It's amazing..but there is still a real distrust in small players. The thought of "why not take the bigger player" in a comparison of two still exists..and even though Zuccarello plays way bigger than he is, it hurts his market somewhat.
There will be teams that love him, and others that want a power forward instead
11:13
In the summer, there will be more teams and more diversity in beliefs.
At least it's not butter
11:13
Hi Gavin, please tell me that you agree that this Ottawa teardown is an overreaction. Sure they aren't as good as last year's team but definitely not as bad as this years
Gavin Lee
11:14
It's absolutely an overreaction based on their on-ice play, but there are other factors at work in Ottawa.
It's not just about icing the best team.
Some kid
11:14
Any kind of position move for Tyson Jost so he can get minutes with Kerfoot?, or am I just a hopeless bromantic
Gavin Lee
11:15
Maybe not this year, but there is lots of time left to find out where best to use Jost.
Remember he's just 19.
Maybe he flames out in the middle, maybe he finds success in the low part of the lineup, maybe he turns into an elite winger
Glen Hanlon
11:16
Will Green get traded before Karlsson?  Or is he second prize?
Gavin Lee
11:16
Both of those things are true, I think
Traded before Karlsson, but only after those talks break down

I had assumed the NYR were going to dump Desharnes for a late round pick but there doesn't seem to be any interest. Do you see him or Spooned being moved?
Gavin Lee
11:17
He feels like an eleventh hour thing.
Right at the deadline
In Sweden....
11:17
As a Ranger fan, I was hoping that Lundqvist would win a Cup, but that window seems closed...any chance of him being dealt somewhere where he can win one?
Gavin Lee
11:17
It seems like Lundqvist is happy to just ride into the sunset as a Ranger.
11:18
Disappointing for me too. I've loved to watch his career as an elite goaltender playing a distinctive style.
I'm partial to those guys.

Not sure if its been brought up, but cant be talked about enough; where does Evander Kane end up? And is he truly a lockerroom cancet
Gavin Lee
11:18
I don't know Evander, so this is entirely speculation.
11:19
It seems like he might be tough on a locker room that is already fragile from struggles on the ice.
Many believe he'll be just fine in a playoff run on a solid team.
