So hard to say. If Oakland finds a way to beat the Titans this week I like their chances to finish strong. However, if the Titans win I think gives the Steelers a little bit more leeway because the Titans finish with the Texans (twice) and the Saints. I think the Titans would do well going 2-2 down the stretch. So, to sum up, I like the Steelers if they can take care of business. I just know it's going to be a close game every week given their QB situation, and I acknowledge it's going to be difficult to continue to win so many close games.

Do you believe that 9 and 7 for the Steelers secures a playoff berth?
Steelers insider

If the Steelers go 9-7 they'd have to sweat out a tiebreaker scenario or two to get in. I think 10-6 gets them in no matter what.

I saw/see something in 17 at WR... smooth, big, strong, confidence... His route running obviously but... Up to Finctner or Hodges to target him?

I like him too. I thought he might get more snaps last week. Maybe they're just not comfortable with him knowing the playbook yet. When he does get a better understanding of the offense I think there is some potential there.

What is your take on the pass interference penalty called on Bud Depree this past Sunday?  I couldn't believe my eyes a penalty was called.  Officials across the NFL have been horrible at best this year.  Is the ref union on strike too?

Terrible call. That referee was awful. He also called Duck for the false start.

I keep seeing writers saying 9-7 gets us into the dance; do you agree?
Steelers insider

They can't say that with any certainty. Way too many scenarios where they'd lose out on tiebreakers depending on the opponent and which teams the Steelers lose to down the stretch.

bring James Conner back next year? lots of injuries but good when he is healthy

Oh year I never said they'd cut him. I just don't think they'd sign him to second contract. I can see a scenario where Snell gets more carries and Conner is the guy in there on passing downs.

Good Morning, How would you rank this defense? Are they this good, or just better than some of the weaker opponents they have played? In other words, is this a championship caliber defense? Thank you.

"Championship-caliber" might be going a bit far, but they're very good. I'd like to think the Steelers will be among the favorites in the AFC next season if Dupree somehow comes back. What's not to like about the team with a healthy Ben?

Watching Edmunds in coverage, it seems like he never turns and looks for the ball, which results in either a PI call or a completion.   This seems like something that could be fixed to take his game and the defense to the next level.  Would you agree?
Steelers insider

Yes, like I mentioned, he's not strong in coverage. But they like him and I think the hope is he gets better with age.

Is it time to look for a left tackle high in the draft?
Steelers insider

At some point in the next two years? Yes. But I don't know if it's this spring.

What happens when Conner comes back? Who gets more carries Snell or Conner?
Steelers insider

Tomlin indicated today that Snell has earned a bigger role. We'll have to wait and see what that means once Conner is healthy, but he's right. This offense is better when you have a RB that runs downhill and gains positive yards.

Any chance the team tries to get out of Tuitt contract since it seems he cannot stay on the field and is one of our highest paid players?  More money to sign Bud/others?
Steelers insider

Don't think they'll make that move especially if Hargrave tests free agency and signs elsewhere.

Transition tag Dupree? I think we'll have a good chance to match offers, other quality FA edge rushers should drive his price down a bit.

They definitely have some options with Bud. Those are nice to have when you want to retain a player in his prime.
