Steelers Man
2:16
Hey let’s get started
AK
2:16
Why is it that so many fans are ready to label a player a bust after he has only played a few games?
Steelers Man
2:17
The same reason they want to label players a star after they have a few good games - we live in an instant gratification society

In a way, the injury to JuJu just might have a silver lining. In looking at some of Washington’s catches, they are against double coverage and he’s gaining momentum and confidence. Adding JuJu back into the lineup just might challenge defenses much more than earlier in the season. Your thoughts?
Steelers Man
2:19
Well I will say this - the rest of the receiving corps has all had to grow up and mature. And Washington has been the primary one in terms of stepping up to the next level. He has been great and improving. It will be interesting to see how they get JuJu back into the fold. It won’t be easy because the group has sort of developed without him around.

Any word from Tomlin on the phantom roughing the passer call on Dupree? Shouldn't we be hearing from the NFL that the refs blew that one?
Steelers Man
2:20
I don’t believe it has been addressed and I’m quite sure he didn’t get fined for it since it was, um, bogus
Robert
2:20
Any reason that the reporters bylines have been removed from all articles and chats in the PG?  As a reader, knowing the source of the information provides helpful context.
Steelers Man
2:21
Yes the writers guild is currently in a contract dispute with the owner of the Post-Gazette and as a result we are holding a byline strike in protest of the negotiating practices of the company

2:22
Seems like there are a lot of people advocating for the Steelers to become pass dominant against Arizona because their pass defense is weak, but I believe this approach would be wrong considering the inexperience of the QB; therefore what is your opinion regarding this topic?
Steelers Man
2:24
As much as we love the Duck Dynasty story the real story in the Cleveland game was the running game. This team needs to run the ball and run it with physicality. And that is the game plan for the rest of the year in my mind - if they can line up and run right at teams they will be very difficult to deal with and that will open up the passing game for Duck
AK
2:24
Do you think Foster will be gone after this year?  If so, would you give a new contract to Finney and make him the starter and/or draft a G?
Steelers Man
2:25
No I think Ramon has at least one more year on his contract so he will be here. No doubt about it Finney has played well and I think he will be around too
Jim
2:26
I know history says that we don't negotiate during the season, but should we make an exception for Dupree? We don't trade away our 1st round picks either!!! Just saying
Steelers Man
2:27
I would say it is too late for that - why would he negotiate now? He is gonna paid in full and so why would he give away his leverage? He is a player who has earned a big contract and he would be dumb to negotiate with only one team
Nick
2:28
Any reason the Steelers didn't extend Bud Dupree a 5th year extension at the start of this season if they knew he would be playing so good? When he gets a new contract, wherever that may be, would he keep up his production?
Steelers Man
2:32
The reason they didn’t give him a deal is they weren’t sure how well he would play. He has clearly proven he deserves a contract whereas before he really hasn’t proven much. That’s the thing about that 5th year extension- he is exactly the kind of player that you use it on
Iron City
2:32
Am I wrong to think that since we are saving a lot of money from the fact that Leveon Bell and Antonio Brown are no longer on the roster, that signing Dupree is a no-brainer? I understand there are still some dead money.
Steelers Man
2:33
I absolutely think they need to sign him and he needs to be their priority. He is at a position that is way too important for him not to be.

Bill Cowher stated that this is the year that Mike Tomlin has really shown his coaching abilities.  Do you think he’s a strong candidate for coach of the year honors?
Steelers Man
2:35
I think if the season ended today he would be the coach of the year. But there are four games left and a lot can happen. If they go 0-4 down the stretch I’m fairly certain
2:36
he would not be getting so much credit. He would be getting hammered for not winning and finishing the job
Emilio
2:36
If the Steelers were to win the Superbowl this year with Duck at QB and decide to trade or cut Big Ben for the 2020 season, how much cap space would that open up?
Steelers Man
2:38
I’m not a cap expert so I have no idea how much relief they get from trading Ben. It is an interesting discussion though - if they win the Super Bowl what do they do to Ben
Bob R
2:41
Is there any realistic scenario in which a healthy, willing, and able Roethlisberger is not starting for the Steelers next year?
Steelers Man
2:42
Well like we just said - if Devlin Hodges leads the team to a Super Bowl championship I bet the Steelers would trade Ben. I mean if they win four playoff games with Hodges - that’s more than Ben has won in nine years. He is old but still has a lot of value so why not trade him
Don Majkowski
2:42
Tomlin has always talked about finding an identity. Do you think this team has an identity now with these unexpected players rising up to the occasion. I think it's amazing to watch and inspiring. It also inspiring to see Tomlin overcome all this adversity and lead his team the way he has. People talk about firing him like they talked about getting Ben out of there. You don't know what you got till it's gone.
Steelers Man
2:45
I really hate the cliche -  it this offense has become blue collar. They are tough, hard nosed and just play for each other and refuse to lose. They aren’t super talented by they have learned how to win games. And the defense is nasty, physical and active

2:45
I assume they’re trying, but in your opinion, what is the single most important thing the Steelers coaching staff can attempt to do right now in order to enhance the team’s chances of getting into and doing well in the playoffs?
Steelers Man
2:46
Win games. I mean there isn’t much else to say - they just need to stay focused on winning games
livinthedream
2:46
Sunday should be a breakout day for Vance MacDonald. Agree?
Steelers Man
2:47
Man he has been underwhelming so far but we saw a few plays from him the last game so maybe you are right and he was on the verge of a breakout and is ready to have a big game
Jimmy
2:48
Do you see Duck as someone who can develop into a elite level QB in the NFL or is he destined to be no more than (at best) a Bruce Gradkowski type.
Steelers Man
2:49
I love the moxy the kid has, his attitude and his fearless approach. He is a winner no doubt . I do think he has some physical limitations that will hold him back but if he has a career like Gradkowski I think that would be an incredible atoey
Paul
2:50
Thanks for the chat.  From the outside looking in, it just never seemed like the players or the fans got behind Rudolph the same way they have with Duck.  Do you think that is accurate or just seems that way from a fan perspective?
Steelers Man
2:53
I think people were behind Rudolph at first but he didn’t play well enough and Hodges came in and performed and that’s what it is about. I think the one thing that is different with Hodges is he is loose and fearless and the team takes his personality on. Rudolph is a perfectionist and I think it holds him back

We have 4 losses to maybe the best 4 teams ( other than Saints ) and now we are in winter ball where defense wins games. Why all the sad faces? I think we can repeat the 2005 run if we get healthy.
Steelers Man
2:54
Who is sad? People feel better about this team than they have about the Steelers in a while. People are intrigued by them
Paul
2:54
Even if Conner is a go for this weekend, do you think that Snell has done enough to stay relevant in the offense?  By that I mean at least split carries.  I would rather they stick with him as he seems to be getting on a roll the more he plays.
Steelers Man
2:54
Conner isn’t likely going
