Hi folks, Chirag, do you mean on campus or online?

On campus MCIT

Chirag, you'll want to contact the Program Coordinator, Mike Felker, at mfelker@cis.upenn.edu. They often have current students lined up to talk with applicants.

Are admissions for PhD program in Bioengineering program on rolling basis?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:09
Shubham, they are, but not until after the Dec 15 deadline.

Thanks for the information. But I didn't find it mentioned on the BME website.

Hi, I submitted my application two days ago.  If one of my recommenders miss the Nov.15 deadline by one day or two, will you still consider me as first round?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:15
ZhuoyaHuang, it depends - we require at least two letters, one of which is from an academic source, to be submitted by the deadline. If you don't have at least that requirement met, we most likely would not consider your application complete by the deadline.

I tired to submit the application for the data science program and I still had a quick question about the application. For the employment section, can we include any internships or on-campus job or even the paid on-campus research? I think we can include total 4 experiences under this section.
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:16
Junhan, you should include however many jobs you've held that you believe are relevant to your application. There is a section that specifically asks about research experience, so you could use that as well.

Also, I wanted to know if Master's GPA is considered for the minimum GPA criteria for PhD or undergraduate GPA.
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:17
Shubham, we do consider all grades that are reported on your unofficial transcripts.

Thanks for the information Will! So, if I have three recommenders and two of them successfully complete the process by Nov.15, I will be considered as the first round, is that correct?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:18
As long as everything else is in, then yes.
Junhan Xu
10:18
However, if we have more than 4, should we just write down the most relevant ones or the most recent ones?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:20
I would recommend the most relevant ones, but it is up to you.

Hi, if my English test score reports are not received by the addmission office by Nov.15, but everything else is completed, will I be considered as the first round? Thanks!
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:22
Yunxin, did you report the scores on your application?
Yunxin Li
10:23
Yes, I reported the scores on my application
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:24
Ok, as long as everything else is complete, then yes, we would consider it for the early decision. We will begin the review based on the scores you reported.

Quick question. Im still waiting for my GRE and TOEFL scores to be matched to my application. Today is the end of the 3rd business day since I submitted my application. Should I mail the admission office to help them manually match my application to the test scores?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:25
Guest, you don't need to do that. As long as you reported the scores on your application, it will be fine. Sometimes our automatic matching system doesn't automatically match.

10:24
Name in GRE and TOEFL is slightly different from the application name. As in.. my initials are expanded in the test reports. And they're not in the application form
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:27
Guest this is probably why it hasn't matched. You can send us an email at gradstudies@seas.upenn.edu with the names on your application and on your test scores, and we can look into it.

Thanks a lot! Have a nice day!

Yunxin, you're welcome.

It has been about a month that my GRE scores are not matched
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:28
Mridul, you can email us at gradstudies@seas.upenn.edu and we can look into it. This is usually due to a discrepancy between your name/birthdate on your application and on the test score sheets.

Hi Will. I have sent my TOEFL scores to 2926 instead of 2888. Do I need to convey graduate admissions committee about this?
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:28
Shubham, no, it will be fine.
Mridul
10:28
What are average GRE and GPA scores (on a scale of 10) of admitted applicants
AvatarWill Fenton, Asst Dir
10:29
Mridul, I'm sorry, but we don't release that information, as it can vary greatly depending on the program. However, you can find some information for our CIS programs here: https://www.cis.upenn.edu/graduate/how-to-apply/admissions-statistics/

Sure thanks, Mr. Fenton. Will mail the graduate admissions about the naming discrepancy. Have a great day 🙂
