I don't know that any of them do except for maybe Kendrtick Green. And I'm not sure he'll make the 53-man roster in August.

What position would you take first rd if all best players were available
Ray Fittipaldo
2:27
OT with CB close behind.

The Cincinnati offense looked a lot better against Bills defense than the ravens
Ray Fittipaldo
2:28
I think the Bills were emotionally spent.

Do you think the Steelers will live to regret the timing wherein they didn't get to hire Flores as their DC and now they are faced with losing him?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:29
No. They had just hired Teryl Austin weeks earlier. What did you want them to do? It's not like Austin is a bad DC.

Has mediocrity hurt our team by being middle of the pack in drafting the last 15 years?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:31
It's certainly harder to acquire elite players when you're drafting middle or late. But there are times when you can hit the jackpot. T.J. Watt was selected with the No. 30 overall pick I think. He's a future Hall of Famer.

Ray - Big fan of your mock drafts. When will you be sending out your first mock draft and is there a mock draft out there that you find to be reliable?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:32
My first mock draft will come out in two weeks. I'll be at the Senior Bowl next week and I'm going to do it after that.
Josh
2:32
Do you feel like Edmunds outplayed his contract? And is it feasible to sign both Edmunds and Kazee this off season?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:33
I think it's feasible if they both can come back on similar deals. But both played well enough to make more $$$. How much more is the question the Steelers have to figure out.
Josh
2:33
Resign edmunds, kazee or both?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:33
I'd try to re-sign both.

could you see a similar development of Pickett to that of Jalen Hurts?  I feel like they had similar limitations coming out of college
Ray Fittipaldo
2:35
Hurts is a better runner. They do more designed runs with him. Pickett is more of a scrambler and I'd say he probably had a better passing grade when he came out of college although Hurts has turned into a better passer in the NFL.

I see the Steelers projected to take Joey Porter, Jr with their first pick. Is he a legitimate first rounder or are the Steelers eyes somewhat influenced by who he is?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:36
No he's a legit first-rounder based on the info. we have now. Still lots of steps to go before the draft with the combine and workouts for teams, etc. But right now I see Porter in the first round in most mock drafts I see.

Hi Ray, appreciate the chats!  I'm sure you've been asked this question before, but Steelers need OT, DT, ILB and CB.  Which position(s) do you think they'll target in FA?  Or will most of $$ be spent resigning Sutton and extending Highsmith (for example)?  I know they want to inject some more youth, but I just wanted to know your thoughts.  Thanks!
Ray Fittipaldo
2:37
Honestly a lot of it depends on the depth at certain positions in this draft. I'll have a better handle on that in a few weeks.

I think the Steelers would admit not re-signing Mike Hilton was a mistake.  Is there a current player or a player in the draft with qualities similar to Hilton’s?  Thanks Ray.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:39
Hilton is a good player. They knew that when he signed with the Bengals. But they were in a bad place with the cap then and the cap was going down due to the pandemic. The Bengals just had more freedom within their financial structure to get that deal done. Plus, the Steelers signed Cam Sutton instead. That turned into a pretty good move. Both guys are good players. You can't keep them all.

Hi Ray think widiel will have influence on Fa and the draft
Ray Fittipaldo
2:39
Yep. That's why they hired him.

Any veteran QB you would like to see signed to backup KP?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:40
Trubisky is still under contract, but if they cut him there are a bunch of QBs who are going to be free agents. Jacoby Brissett is one of them. He'd be fine. I believe Tayklor Heinecke is another.

As Steeler fans, should we be hoping for Cincy to win the Super Bowl? If they win the SB, they have to pay Burrow even more money...follow me, then they have to pay Chase a bunch a year later, both are likely to become the highest paid players at their positions. They'll end up in salary cap purgatory in short order.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:41
I got news for you. They're going to be paying Burrow a lot of $$$ no matter what.

I think Buffalo's window is closing.  $8.5 mil over the cap and 35 players signed for 2023.  Cincy in the same boat in another year or so.  Reason to feel optimistic about the Stillers?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:41
Yes but as you mention the Bengals should be in a good place cap-wise in 2023. They'll be the team to beat again.

I think an underated position of need is a third OLB. Watt is obviously all-world, and Highsmith was very good this year. But there's no one after them. Malik Reed was a big disappointment.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:42
I agree with you. When I listed their top 5 needs I struggled with whether making WR No. 5 or OLB. It's close, and you're right. They need much better depth.

Will the Steelers bring back Matakevich - UFA ?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:43
They certainly need to upgrade on special teams, that's for sure.

Is there a free agent CB we, as fans, should keep an eye on in terms of the Steelers signing them?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:45
Not unless Sutton signs elsewhere. If Sutton returns I think they'll look to the draft to get a CB early.

Hi Ray, enjoy the chats.  What’s the Steelers’ salary cap situation look like with free agency and the draft approaching?  Thanks.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:45
They're in good shape. They'll make some moves to create more space, too.

Hi, Ray. Any talk about the Stillers trying to start early negotiations with their own pending free agents? I’d like to see them get to work on guys like Sutton and Edmunds/Kazee if they plan on retaining them. I think even Edmunds might not be as cheap as last year if they allow these guys to hit the market. Thanks!
