Sure, but that wouldn't mean they'd trade Bush. If they don't pick up the fifth year option they can just let him go after next season.

Hi Ray - It now seems like Tomlin has a very strong, experienced defensive coaching staff and a weak offensive coaching staff in comparison. Is there any hope for the offensive improvement needed this year?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:48
I suppose there is hope, but I didn't see a lot of hope watching that offense last season.

In your opinion, are the Steelers better off signing a free agent quarterback such as Trubisky or Mariotta rather than trading for one and giving up draft picks? Signing a free agent qb would also give them a chance to pick a quarterback with their first round pick if the one they want falls to them. Thank you

Yes.

With Flores in the fold, doesn't it provide opportunity to broaden defensive tendencies?  Late season defensive slides can be attributed to other teams seeing all of your looks correct?
Ray Fittipaldo

I don't know that Flores is going to walk in and make a number of changes. He'll get in where he fits in, to use a Tomlinism. He's the new guy in a new system. That being said, a different voice can sometimes spark change or at the very least spark conversations about breaking tendencies, etc.

Should Hines Ward be in the HoF?  I get some of the arguments against his candidacy but if Sam Mills is in the Hall they need to fit Hines for his gold jacket pronto!
Ray Fittipaldo

I'm with you. Hines has the numbers, and he was arguably the best blocking receiver in the history of the game. He hasn't really come close so I guess the voters don't appreciate the type of football I do.

Ray, I understand not caring about the ranking but it just galls me that he is not getting his due.  Thanks.

He'll get his due in 2027.

In the Steelers over 29 years of unrestricted free agency has only given two wide receivers (Hines Ward, Antonio Brown) a multiyear contract extension. Does any current WR deserve one?
Ray Fittipaldo

They're in a tough spot now so Diontae Johnson should get consideration to get a second deal. It's not like they can let him walk and hand over the No. 1 WR duties  to Chase Claypool. Not the way Claypool has played last season.

Hi Ray - How much will working with Pouncey this offseason help Kendrick Green?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:55
Can't hurt. At the very least it shows Green is committed to getting better.
four years $64 million.

Your prediction: Minkah signs for what per year for how many years?

What is your gut feeling on the next GM? I think he will be from an outside organization such as GB or TB.
Ray Fittipaldo

I still say Hunt and Khan, but we'll see.

Hi Ray, Why re-sign Haden at age 33~34 when there are many younger CB options out there? I know Carlton and Jackson etc will cost more money but I think the Steelers will have a solid secondary if they sign one stud CB and pair him up with Witherspoon and Sutton.
Ray Fittipaldo
1:57
I agree. I suppose the question is how much do they want to spend on a CB who has never played in this system. It has to be the right fit.

Hi Ray.  Is there a chance at pick #20 steelers not take a QB, OL, or DL?  So much will depend on FA but I would also love to see trade down.  Going from 20 to 30 will still guarantee a top level OL but pick up a good 3rd rounder maybe even a 2nd.
Ray Fittipaldo

If they trade down they better know they can get who they want when they do it and get a second round pick. Third rounders too iffy

I saw one mock draft yesterday that had 1 QB getting selected in the 1st round. Not surprisingly, it was Willis going to the Steelers. If there is not QB being selected when the Steelers pick, would you pick Pickett or Willis?
Ray Fittipaldo
1:58
I'd go with Pickett, but Willis might have a higher ceiling.

OK thanks for all the questions this week. We'll do it again next Tuesday.
