I think they'd be crazy not to have a package or two for him each week.

2:26
Who will leave the Steelers first? Mike Tomlin or Omar Khan?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:26
Mike Tomln

2:26
What is latest Steelers can sign a contract extension with Fields?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:27
There is no deadline, but the Steelers don't negotiate contracts once the season starts.

2:27
What did Justin Fields do in 3 years in Chicago to make us think he could be a top 10 QB?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:28
I don't think anyone is saying he's a top 10 QB. I think people like his potential and believe him watching Wilson for a year could help him as he develops.

Hi Ray. Do you see the Steelers landing a top receiver either in free agency deals or the Draft? Any truth to some of the RUMORS floating around the web?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:30
They are doing their due diligence with the trad market.

Ray do you think the Steelers will trade for a top flight wide receiver or draft one?  Secondly I think the steelers should go to the trenches with the first round pick what do you say?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:30
Yeah give me an OT or C.

There's little if anything to complain about after the past week.  These certainly aren't your father's Steelers.  Was Wilson promised the starting as an incentive to sign?  If so, Picket's response is slightly more understandable.  If not, why announce him as the starter without giving Fields a chance?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:33
Wilson was not anointed the starter until after Pickett forced his way out of town. The reporting on that is pretty clear. Wilson was going to get first reps with the starters because he's older, but it was going to be a competition with Pickett. But Pickett didn't want to compete with Wilson so he lands in Philly, where he's now behind a $255 million QB who is 10 years younger than Wilson. Make it make sense!

How bad did the Denver Broncos think that Russell Wilson was for them, such that they decided to take $ 80 million in cap hits for the next two years?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:34
A cautionary tale of free agency.

I keep seeing the all the PG writers continually defending Colbert's drafting but can we objectively admit his last five years were a complete disaster?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:35
Colbert had a fabulous tenure as GM. He won two Super Bowls. He'll go into the Hall of Honor soon. But his final years weren't his best for a number of reasons. The COVID year played a role in that but some bad first-round picks also did.
The Truth
2:36
I think its lame that a lot of local media are calling Pickett a punk now AFTER he leaves town. What say you? And I'm not a Pickett defender by any means.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:38
Pickett brought on all of it himself. He didn't act in a professional manner. It's OK if he is criticized. He's a big boy making millions of dollars. It's fair to point out how poorly he handled the situation.

A former HC as OC should help control the egos on the offensive side of the ball, but where will the leadership come from on the player side? The captainship seems like a jinxed role lately.  Who you giving the C to Week 1?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:39
Russell Wilson.
KJ
2:40
Do you see the Steelers going after their highest rated player on their draft board at #20 or going more for positional need?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:40
Highest rated player at a position of need.

Hello Ray, always enjoy your chats and podcasts.  Steelers interested in trading for a megastar receiver?  Steelers have always been great at taking productive albeit diva receivers.  Sign and trade would signal not resigning George Pickens.  Not only would this sound "un-steeler like", but also make very little sense and not a good business model.  Other positions maybe, but WR in a loaded class?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:41
They need two WRs -- a 2 and a 3.
CB Inquiries
2:42
Hey Ray, seems like talk around adding another corner has died down after adding Jackson in the trade. Any talk of adding another boundary corner, either through the draft or FA, or are they riding with Porter and Jackson?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:42
I think they'll draft a CB, but they have some flexibility in the draft now after getting Jackson.
KJ
2:42
Given your insight and connections, do you believe we have not seen the end of the Steelers' FA activity? Who are they believed to be still targeting?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:42
Targeting a WR in free agency or trade.
Brian in NC
2:43
Thanks for doing these.  Do you think it’s more likely that their center this year will come from the draft or a FA signing (or maybe on the roster now?!).
Ray Fittipaldo
2:43
Guessing draft or Nate Herbig. Not much out there now in terms of starting centers in free agency.

2:44
Can Wilson and Fields coexist without there being a controversy on who should start? I know the plan is to start Wilson but what if Fields significantly outplays Wilson in camp and preseason?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:45
Having two good QBs would be viewed as a nice problem to have.
Doing it differently
2:45
Hi, Ray, love your work!  What are the Steelers doing about center? At this point they have to draft one in first 2 rounds?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:46
Nate Herbig and James Daniels can play center although moving Daniels would open up a spot at guard, and I don't think they want to do that.
Sunner in Orlando from Lebo
2:46
Should the Steelers pick up another ILB besides Queen in the draft or free agency in case Holcomb's recovery does not go well?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:47
Yes because Elandon Roberts is entering the final year of his deal. They need to develop some young ILBs instead of paying for them in free agency every year.
Sunner in Orlando from Lebo
2:47
Is the solution to the corner opposite Porter going to be a free agent or a first-round draft pick?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:47
Donte Jackson, for now.

Ray what can I do with my Fire Canada tee shirt? Cost me 20 bucks.
