Chris Taft has entered the chat, I love it!! Khem Birch got left at the rest stop. What kind of snacks are they eating on the road trip? I’m thinking Pringles, a very crunchy chip that makes a lot of noise but doesn’t really fill you up….

Afternoon Ray, % chance that Rodgers is QB1 for Steelers Week 1.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:37
Still above 50% but I have no idea what the holdup is.

12:38
Ray, do we even need a QB? Just direct snap to Patterson. Is it legal for the center to toss the ball to him?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:38
Between his legs, yes!

This is ridiculous. Barring a trade of Pickens, we should draft DL, DL, RB, CB. How say you?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:39
What about QB and WR?

Why don't the Steelers do the tush push?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:39
Great question. If it's allowed again this season they have to implement it.

Is Cam Sutton still on the Steelers?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:40
He's not on their offseason roster.

I think the Tesla of unfulfilled potential is headed to Vegas. Bright lights, the dream of easy money … not enough charging stations in Kansas though, and they run out of juice in the Great Plains. Season 2 of this reality show is the three of them having to survive the winter on a Kansas farm, doing chores and being miserable and cold.

Can the Steelers block well enough to execute the tush push?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:42
Frazier could handle it. And Seumalo played in Philly. McCormick would love it. Why not?
Leonard
12:42
Hi Ray, have you been surprised by any players brought in for interviews/workouts?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:44
Not really. They always bring in a wide range of prospects and do their homework on a bunch of guys. Emmanwori is interesting to me. Maybe he learns under Elliott for a year and then takes over. He's a tremendous athlete. There is a report Shemar Stewart is coming in later this week. Same thing applies. Great athlete, you play him and let him find his way whether that's DL or edge.
Ryan from Ohio
12:44
I think DL will be the round 1 pick but with the lack of generational talent in this draft outside of the maybe top 5 picks, is this the year just to take best player available regardless of position outside of OL?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:44
Perhaps that's why guys like Emmanwori and Stewart are coming in. Bet on the upside?

Hi Ray I've seen a number of PG staff writers talk about trading GP does he read this and take exception to you guys.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:45
Ha ha. I'm sure he's unaware any oft these chats are happening. But maybe he should!

12:46
Last Steelers first rounder taken that didn’t come in for a visit??
Ray Fittipaldo
12:46
Did Jarvis Jones come for a visit?

Is the prospect of trading Minkah strictly a fan idea?  Seems to me his salary is too big to make him much of a trade prospect, given his production the past two years?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:46
Yes I think it's almost entirely fan generated.
AK
12:47
They could draft the 400 lb. guy and do the tush push: Hey! Hey! Hey!
Ray Fittipaldo
12:47
He wouldn't be the Refrigerator, he'd be the walk-in Freezer.

Run with Rudolph this year, pick a developmental QB after the fourth rd. WR is not necessary if you have Metcalf, Pickens, Austin and Wilson. QB, WR in 26!

Hello Ray. I appreciate you doing these chats. I’m a die hard Steeler fan, not as much a football junky or anything like that. I am certainly not knowledgeable enough to evaluate players beyond a laymen’s observation.
My question pertains to Rudolph and Rogers. I realize Rudolph is not elite. Seems to me he is serviceable though. I didn’t like it when we drafted him but came of the opinion he is a decent QB and good teammate. I like him. What attributes is he lacking that prevents him from being a solid starter?
Yes, Rogers is a future Hall of Fame and has the experience and knowledge. At this point in his career though, all considered, is he really that much better?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:48
A little more upside with the win total with Rodgers I think, but the bottom won't fall out if Rudolph is the QB.

12:49
Ray,  what is with Spencer Anderson? I thought he was a solid utility guy but here nothing about him.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:49
He is. And since when do you hear about solid utility OL? Ha ha

If you’re looking to fill a Tesla seat with someone who has a story to tell, it has to be Connie Hawkins. One of the five greatest athletes to play in Pittsburgh, he was cheated & abused by the NBA. He was Dr. J before Dr. J.

Isn’t the developmental QB from the middle to late rounds much more of an exception than the rule?  QBs that are taken then are available for a reason.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:51
Right. I think that's why guys like Milroe get pushed up draft boards. MIght not work out but teams always need QBs! It's the most important position.

Hi Ray, going back a ways, I remember when the Steelers passed over Dan Marino to take a lineman, and they lost out on a hall of famer.  Do you think there is any deja vu going on inside the Steelers offices if they should skip over Jaxson Dart to take a lineman again?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:53
Oh man, you're comparing Jaxon Dart to Dan Marino? Say it ain't so.

Would it have been better for the Steelers if instead of firing Dick LeBeau after the 2014 season (he moved to the Titans) they would have fired Tomlin and brought back Ken Whisenhunt as head coach? LeBeau was the brains behind the Steeler defense and Whisenhunt knew how to handle Big Ben.

The Steelers won their division in 2014. You could have provided a realistic scenario such as 2018 or 2019 or any year since.

Which of the day 2-3 QBs do you think has the best chance of succeeding in the pros - Shough, Milroe, Dart, Ewers or Howard?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:55
Honestly depends on which teams drafts them.
