They have three CBs in Sutton, Witherspoon and Wallace. Not sure where he'd fit.

Do you think DJ is going to be a problem this year due to contract issues and if so is WR in round one more of a priority?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:35
WR is a priority anyway, but Johnson doesn't strike me as a malcontent. I think he'll go about his business in a professional manner.

GM Ray, what percentage do you give each of these positions to be picked in the first 3 rounds: quarterback, defensive line, offensive line, wide receiver, cornerback, safety? Thanks
Ray Fittipaldo
2:37
QB 10%, DL 25%, OL 5%, WR 25%, CB 20%, S 15%.

Hi Ray - S. Tuitt & Steelers question - Do you think a discussion and decision has taken place where S. Tuitt is retiring but both sides are playing it close to the vest to protect the Steelers draft interests?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:37
No I don't get that sense.
JD
2:37
Most likely position Steelers take a WR rd 1, 2 or 3?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:37
2, but don't be surprised if it's 1.

Ray, I still think the OL needs an upgrade. Could you see them taking Linderbaum & bumping Cole to LG or taking Kenyon Green and putting him at LG?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:38
I don't think it's a strong possibility, but I won't count it out.

Do you think Diontae Johnson is worth over$20M per year? If this is what he is seeking, why not try to trade him before the upcoming draft possibly for a 1st or 2nd round pick?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:39
I don't think he's worth $20 million a year, but he and his agent are going to try to shoot for the stars. And why not? The WRs market is hot right now. Don't begrudge him for trying to cash in. This is a business. And the Steelers have a business decision to make. They don't have to pay him that much if they don't think he's worth it.

Hi Ray.  In a weird way I like the 2nd round QB value (Ridder, Howell, Corral) than the 1st (Picket, Willis).  I almost feel the chance of hit in Ridder/Howell/Corral is as good as pickett/willis but at a much better value selection in the 2nd.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:40
You're probably right, but the question is will any of them be there at No. 52?

Hey Ray. Love the chats. Not sure if they're required as part of your job or not but we all appreciate them. In a previous chat you mentioned that you are not a fan of the Steelers but rather an employee of a paper that reports on them. Are you fan of any NFL teams? And / or a fan of any local, Pittsburgh sports teams?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:41
No I'm not a fan of any NFL team. And I watch the other sports teams  in town with interest and enjoy them.

In your educated opinion, when do you think we will hear about the status of Tuitt in terms of playing football for the Steelers this year and Minkah in terms of an extension?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:42
The Steelers don't typically get to extensions until late summer. As for Tuitt, if he's going to be on the team in 2022 you might never hear an "announcement." He's on the roster and he will be until he's released.

Hey Ray,
I just read recently that Devonte Wyatt has some significant off field issues...namely domestic violence.
Have you heard specifics on this and would this rule him out for the Steelers in early rounds?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:43
I've read about it, but I don't have a firm grasp of the scope of the alleged incident.

Hi, regarding a potential trade up in the first round for a qb, I would think that’s unlikely if it comes at the cost of any significant 23 draft capital. Largely because this would  hamstring whoever is the next gm. Thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:43
I tend to agree.

Hey Ray! Thanks for the chats! Are you ready for draft analysis vs draft speculation? Bring on the draft!!!
Ray Fittipaldo

What do you think about my theory that the Steelers grab the Nevada QB (Strong) in the 3rd or 4th rounds as a developmental project?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:44
I think fourth round would be great value for Strong. Not sure he'd last that long though.

I think the Steelers should draft Devin Llyod from Utah.  He is a fast MLB and can be used to spy opposing QB's
Ray Fittipaldo
2:45
Isn't that why they drafted Devin Bush three years ago?
Troy
2:47
Any idea what edmunds is asking?  If they don’t draft a ss what about a 1 yr deal for him w a promise not to franchise him?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:47
I think they can sign him without making any future promises... If indeed they want him back.
J$Money
2:48
With the suggested emphasis on the run game, how shocking would it be to see an offensive tackle taken in the first round?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:49
It wouldn't be shocking, but it would be a mild surprise given the fact they just signed Chuks to a three-year deal worth $29 million and also have Dan Moore at left tackle. Not that Moore is a superstar, but they seem to like him.

2:49
Are there any prospects you have heard the Steelers have significant interest in during the early rounds?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:50
I won't say significant interest, but I pay attention to the top-30 visits, and Marcus Jones from Houston intrigues me.
JD
2:51
Backup RB in draft ?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:52
Haven't they don't that almost every year? Snell, McFarland, Samuels. I know Samuels is gone, and Snell and McFarland aren't great, but at why use a pick on a RB when you have Harris?
AZ Stiller
2:54
Would you draft the stud punter / kicker from San Diego State with a 7th round pick? Let's get some pressure on Harvin.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:54
Don't hold your breath. It seems to me they want to work with Harvin.

hi Ray.   Are teams talking to one another now about setting up potential draft day trades? Surely all that dealing  can’t all happen in 15 minutes! Right? And if yes, doesn’t that tip a teams hand as to who/what they desire?
