The offense might be in trouble anyway, but yes, losing Metcalf would be a huge blow.

Ray, I like your chats.  I am wondering which, if any, of the receivers seem to be on the same page with Rodgers.  Thanks.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:20
Well, Rodgers is trying to develop that with Metcalf. He throws to him more than anyone else. Beyond that, maybe Scotty Miller. I would say Miller has made the most plays, but he's been with Mason a lot too so it's hard for me to distinguish when he's with Rodgers and Metcalf.

Thanks for the chats.  I know they are committed to establishing a strong run game which depends a lot on the offensive line.  If they are unable to do you think we have the ability to be a pass first team?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:21
That would be Plan B, but you're right they have to run the ball well if they're going to be a good offense.

Thanks Ray for hosting this chat.  I know its early in training camp but how does the offensive line look?  I hear that Broderick Jones has looked ok so far.   What have you seen or heard?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:22
I've been largely unimpressed with the OL. They have to get it going.

Do you think the Steelers are interested in signing CJ Henderson after bringing him in for a workout?  Thanks Ray.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:22
They announced this morning they signed CB Daryl Porter. They're banged up so I don't think it's anything more than needing bodies for Saturday night in JAX.

Hello, seems like leadership and personalties are playing out well so far. Any ground level insights?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:24
In terms of leadership, the players love Rodgers. They all speak very highly of him. He has to play well, but it helps when your teammates respect you.

Ray what do you think About Mark Robinson and roc Taylor I saw that Robinson had a Few Good practices GO STEELERS
Ray Fittipaldo
11:25
Taylor has been good, but I don't know if there is room for him unless they cut someone like Robert Woods. Maybe they will do that. Woods hasn't stood out much to me.

Chances the Demarvin Leal experiment is over?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:26
We might be getting close to that point.

Ray, It appears folks are ready to give Broderick Jones the Dan Moore treatment (ie he is a bum and can't play LT......until he gets a huge contract to play left tackle) I think BJ has talent and needs coaching, playing time and patience. Your thoughts.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:27
He definitely has talent and needs to play, but he's in year 3. If he hasn't taken to coaching by now then maybe that's a concern.

What do you think Conner's chances are of getting cut? Would the Steelers fear backlash of making Cam upset? He's been a little more vocal since his podcast.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:28
Connor is good on special teams so he might make it for that reason, but he's on the bubble.

I know they play nickel most of the time now, but if only four DBs are on the field (for example, in base 3-4), who will be the two corners? If it's JPJ and Slay, will Ramsey move to safety?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:28
Yes, that's their base defense. Ramsey moves back to FS.

Hearing good things about Payton Wilson. Is he a top candidate for a year two breakout season?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:29
Yes he's definitely looking like a breakout candidate.

Ano sense of how the players feel about an 18 game season?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:30
They don't like it, but if they're smart they'll use it as a bargaining chip in the next CBA.

coach Mike was quick to say Harmon is locked in as the day 1 starter.  Who we kidding that this won’t be the same for Kaleb Johnson.  Jaylen can’t be a lead back in this league, not with that size or ball security problems.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:31
Kaleb Johnson is going to be fine, but he's displayed poor hands and is below average in pass pro. Let's let him earn playing time before handing it to him.

Ray, am I right in thinking that Ben Sauls will be doing the majority if not all of the kicking Saturday night?  Thanks.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:31
Probably a good assumption.

Hi Ray in addition to the 6 big free agent pickups (including Gainwell) the Steelers effectively have two number one and two number 3 picks since Troy and Roman missed last season. Isn’t there some reason for real optimism for this team?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:32
If the offense comes around, yes. I just can't get excited about this team based on what I've seen from the offense two weeks into camp.

Ray, bigger concern R. Wilson not impressing or B. Jones injuries/performance?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:33
Both are concerns, but Jones is protecting Rodgers' blindside so I'll go with him.

Hi Ray. With all the lackluster WR reports out of camp this year, is it really feasible that the TE group can make up for lack of talent aside from DK?  Also a big what if is….If DK gets hurt the whole season is a wash.
Ray Fittipaldo
11:33
Maybe maybe not, but I think an injury to DK would be tough to overcome.

Why are many folks acting like Jonnu Smith is some huge x-factor? His stats outside of last year are incredibly mediocre and no other team wanted him. He was basically traded for a 7th round pick. My expectations for him are relatively low. Who's wrong here

Good morning Ray, I have to give the Steeler organization credit in that signing Rodgers ( which I thought was crazy) and the many other acquisitions, have made the 2025 season interesting to say the least. I kind of feel like they’re playin on house money, sit back and enjoy. So, what happens? MT’s first losing season and a top draft pick at QB, another playoff loss in the first round, deep in the playoffs and a Super Bowl run? What say you? All good by me, will enjoy the season. 😆
Ray Fittipaldo
11:34
You are right. At the very least the season is going to be interesting. And the great thing is no matter what happens the offseason will be dominated by their scouting of QBs.

The Steelers seem to be missing on a lot of third rounders, such as Leal, Kendrick green, and potentially Roman wilson. What is the reason for this?
Ray Fittipaldo
11:36
Not sure if it's anything but a coincidence, but you have to hit on third rounders. They need to be starters or strong contributors. Leal and Green were Colbert picks, by the way. Wilson, obviously, a Khan pick.
