I'm with you if it's Ebron. McDonald looks like he's lost a step to me. He doesn't look as dangerous as he once did.

I was concerned with Bush's coverage on Sunday.   He's supposed to have that skill set but he looked more line vinny than shazier.   Are you concerned?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:20
Sure. But I also acknowledge Noah Fant is a good tight end. He was a top 15 pick.

Will Chase Claypool be a bigger part of the offensive gameplan this week?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:21
They'd be dumb not to take advantage of his skill set. He can take the top off a defense and he has reliable hands. What's not to like?

Hi, Ray, Love your work.  Tough to nit pick because the Steelers are 2-0,  D is fantastic and Ben is back, but the new punter does not seem like an upgrade to me?  Where is the veteran consistency? ,
Ray Fittipaldo
2:21
I agree. Colquitt has been so-so so far.

Is Marcus Allen the top back up at ILB? Haven’t seen him too much
Ray Fittipaldo
2:22
He is listed as the top backup to Devin Bush, but he's not playing much. Ulysees Gilbert has been a healthy scratch the first two games.

I was surprised when the Broncos tried a 58 yard FG with a little under two minutes left in the half.  Did they think they were at Mile High?  Were you surprised?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:22
I was. Not a smart move by Vic Fangio.

Do you think Watt should get more snaps at FB?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:23
I'd like to see it.

2:23
Ray, do you think Steelers should consider starting Dotson and Decastro and moving Felier to RT
Ray Fittipaldo
2:24
That's a good question. Offensive line coaches always try to get their five best players onto the field. I don't think you'll see that happen this week, but it could happen down the road.

Connor’s stats for the last game were deceiving.  He was averaging less than 3 YPC until the big run late in the game.  What is the problem for him?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:24
He's not getting much help from the offensive line. But he also looked tentative at times against the Broncos.

Hi Ray, Why does it seem like there's no flow to the offensive play calling? Is it bad game planning, execution or just a bad offensive coordinator?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:25
Maybe just an early-season feeling-out process by all. Roethlisberger admitted he missed some plays. There were some drops by receivers. It's just not clicking right now. With the schedule that is ahead they surely have to get it figured out.

Hi Ray....Why do you think Bush is having so much trouble covering TE's?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:28
His height will always be an issue, but he was trailing in coverage. He obviously has the speed to run with players such as Fant so perhaps he's not processing the information quickly enough and recognizing what's coming.

Are you more impressed with some great defense or more worried about how this 'great' defense almost lost to a backup QB and gave up some big plays?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:28
The latter.

Ray-  I think the challenge was more about need to regroup because they were gassed.   If that was thinking I have no problem with decision as they needed some time to regroup and had at least a chance for a reversal.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:29
I'd rather have the timeout. Regroup on the run and stop the backup QB from shoving it down your throat.

Hi Ray, I was worried about o-line depth after week 1 but I thought they played pretty well against Denver. What does the line look like with DeCastro coming back and will their run offense start to pick up because of it?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:29
My guess is Dotson goes back to the bench this week, but we'll find out at practice tomorrow.

Hi Ray, thanks for the chat. I've been disappointed by the performance of both Devin Bush and Minkah through 2 games. Is this a fair assessment? And what do you expect from them moving forward? Thank you.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:30
It's early, but the splash plays they provided haven't come yet this year.

Why is Claypool NOT getting more playing time?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:30
Give it some time. He will.

Why so much blitz in the first two weeks? This was a specific thing for those two QB or we should expect the same thing against the Texans?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:32
Could be game plan specific. One of the reasons they were so good last season is they didn't have to blitz to get pressure on the QB. Probably more to do with facing young QBs than any other significant trends.

Are players families allowed to be in a box suite for games?  If not it seems like a shame that the Watt parents would miss seeing their three sons play in the same game.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:32
No. Just personnel who have to be in the stadiums. No one gets special treatment to my knowledge.

McDonald is gone after this year, agreed?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:33
It's early, but he hasn't done much in the first two games to suggest he'll be worth the money they're slated to pay him.

Hi Ray, Love your chats and insight.. why do we continue on goal line instances, run with Conner next to Ben? and not power the ball with Watt (a good blocker) and give Conner a "running" start into the hole..
Ray Fittipaldo
2:35
I'm with you 100%. I know what the analytics say about running out of the spread in goal line situations. But sometimes you just have to trust your players to block and will themselves into the end zone. I'd like to see more Watt and less shotgun near the goal line.

What did you think of Dotson's performance Sunday?
