What if they miss the FG and give the Texans the ball at the 40-yard line with two minutes left? I was fine with the call. Go for the jugular. It showed they had confidence in the offense to take control of the game.

Ray, I know you’re swamped with cancellation questions, but has the league established a protocol for how and when the decision gets made ?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:23
It doesn't seem like they're in a hurry to make a decision today. I would think by Wednesday or Thursday at the latest they'd have to make a call one way or the other.

What was the proportion of M2M versus Zone coverage against Houston, and did that change from first half to second?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:24
They played a lot of zone. Don't know the exact percentage, but Mike Tomlin said playing man to man versus Watson is a recipe for disaster. If DBs turn their backs on him he can run for days.

any chance they move Steelers-Titans to Monday night?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:25
I don't think one day will make that much of a difference for the Titans. And that's not really fair to the Steelers, who already played a game on a short week after the Monday night game against the Giants.

With Claypool,McFarland,Dotson and Highsmith all showing promise,we have become a very young and talented team. Do you agree
Ray Fittipaldo
2:26
Big contributions from the rookies. They should be commended for being ready. And yes, it's always nice to inject some youth into the team dynamic. Dave DeCastro was talking about that on Monday.

It seems like the referees are not calling holding very often so far this year.  I would think with Bud / TJ we would see some calls.  Have you noticed a difference?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:27
I have. See above answer. As long as they're calling the obvious penalties I don't have a huge problem with it.

What is your assessment of Feiler and Villaneuva so far?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:28
Villanueva had a rough opener against the Giants. I think he's been better the past two games. Feiler, for a guy changing positions, has been good too. He gave up a sack on Sunday, but he's been solid overall.

Steelers MVP so far this season...your pick?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:28
TJ Watt.
TJ
2:29
Have the injuries caught up to J.J., or did Chuks have a really good game?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:29
JJ Watt might not be in his prime anymore, but he was coming off a two-sack game against the Ravens. It's rare that he's kept that quiet. I thought Chuks did a really good job. And he was on an island a lot.

From 10 penalties for 89 yards to 2 Ford 14 yards, look like Steelers got the mesaage. Haden said before the the Texans game there were a lot of bang bang plays that were just off against Denver. A play that won’t hit the stat sheet was TJ’s hit on Watson on the INT. A split second late and that’s a penalty and they lose the TO. Seems Watson had a little less interest after that hit?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:30
I agree. I said it at the time. I don;t think Watson was the same after that. Good clean hit too.

Do you think Edmunds play needs to improve for the Steelers to pick up his 5th year option?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:31
Yes it does. I can't see them picking up his option the way things stand now.

I saw a Ravens offense last night that looks beatable from the likes of the Steerler's D.  would you agree?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:32
If you shut down the Ravens running game you can have success. Lamar Jackson is much more effective when there is the threat of the run.

Man, the whole team seems like they're clicking!  Problem is 19, 48, 28, and 30 need new contracts who's out?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:32
Unfortunately a lot of them, and you didn't even mention 71.

2:34
In what order would you try to resign players next year (including a tag)?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:34
19 then 71 or 28.

Fran Tarkenton made the observation on the pregame last night that QBs like Brady and Ben are antiques. Do you think we will see primarily pocket passer QBs disappear soon?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:36
Fran Tarkenton does pregame on a network? Isn't he like 90? Last time I saw Tarkenton on TV was when he was on "That's Incredible." To answer your question, things go in cycles in the NFL. Mobile QBs are all the rage now. Wait a few years, and this will change too.

not saying they are doing this but if you are team that has a lot of injuries, doesn't postponing a game due to covid help?  and if you are team that loses your bye, might that hurt you?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:37
The NFL makes those calls; not individual teams.

The OLBs have been outstanding.  Would the defensive line play be a close 2nd as a position group?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:38
Yes that was my other choice. And not just Heyward and Tuitt. Alualu is playing great too.
Jana
2:38
When the Steelers start slowly in a game why is the “hurry up offense” with Ben in control not used more often??? We usually do so well with that !
Ray Fittipaldo
2:40
I thought the offensive game plan worked well last week. I'm sure they'll utilize the no-huddle but it doesn't have to be every week. And with this defense it might not be something they think they need. If you go three-and-out after going no huddle then you;re putting your defense out there when they're still gassed. It's all about playing to your strengths. And right now the defense is by far the best thing going about this team.

If Villanueva leaves after this season, can Chuks play LT or do they need to draft someone?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:40
I think he's athletic enough. Would depend on who's available in the draft.
AA
2:40
Do you think that when it’s time for the Ravens to give Jackson a huge contract that they will have as many designed runs for him?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:41
That wouldn't be smart business. But they're probably going to have to pay him the going rate.

Any word on Diontae Johnson in concussion protocol?
