You didn't mention dropping the football, too.

Do you expect Loudermilk to dress and play this weekend?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:49
They don't seem to be in a hurry to do that. Leal is a rookie and playing well. Not sure they'd dress him over Alualu or Adams because they're noses/ends. Loudermilk pretty much just an end.

Hi Ray. What are your thoughts about Gunner Olszewski. I'm less than impressed. Maybe Bill B knew something that MT didn't see?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:50
Sure looks that way. By the way, is there another team in the NFL that has worse luck with slot receivers than the Steelers? They get guys like Eli Rogers and Ryan Switer and Gunner. They think they're going to turn into weapons in the passing game and then when the games start they can't do squat.

What is the problem with the defense?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:51
I don't have enough time to begin to answer this question, but No. 1 is injuries.

Baffles me how many catchable passes our receivers drop (especially at significant moments) What do you think the issue is? Lack of talent/concentration?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:51
Probably both.

Tomlin has to swallow his pride. Canada needs replaced mate.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:53
You might have to wait 12 weeks for that.

Do you think it is time to play Robinson over Bush?  I think Bush should be let go at the end of the year so give the new guy some playing time.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:54
Bush has played OK. No need to play a rookie now.

Who is the last Steelers defensive player you've seen impact the defense this much when he's not playing? Steelers 0-7 all-time without TJ.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:54
That's a great question. I think good teams can overcome injuries. I don't think this is a good team.

Thanks for the chats Ray.  Safe to say Highsmith needs TJ to do anything productive?  Haven't seen much from him after week 1
Ray Fittipaldo
2:54
Not necessarily. He just needs to finish better.

If Pickett struggles over the next 4 games, could it negatively impact his growth? I hope not
Ray Fittipaldo
2:55
It can, but they have to stick with him and let him grow. Mistakes will happen. It happens to all rookies. The tradeoff is next season he should be seasoned enough for the offense to take a step forward.

Hi Ray - Spillane looks overmatched. Is he still playing bc he is better than those behind him?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:56
I'm not sure he was better. The reason we always get is he's a better communicator.
Ryan
2:56
Watt being out is the obvious answer but what else seems to be wrong with the defense?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:57
Front seven gets pushed around. DBs can't cover well enough without an effective pass rush. Fatigue, attrition. I can go on and on.

Ray, do you feel we should be getting more production out of Najee?  Seems O line has been serviceable.  The guy was a #1 pick and in my opinion just hasn't really got it going.  Is it time to start worrying about his ability moving forward and what he can do?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:57
The running game is starting to look better. Let's see what Harris looks like a month from now.

Ray, do you happen to have that Mason guy's number?  I'm looking for a new QB, and the pickings are fairly slim, despite my considerable assets.

Stock up: Freiermuth and Pickens

Yes on both.

Ray - Presley Harvin's continues to be very inconsistent in year 2, at what point do the Steelers consider looking elsewhere for the punting duties?   Being a holder for Boswell may be the one thread that saves him from a mid-season change.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:59
He was playing with an injured hip. I guess I give him a pass for last week although the coaches certainly could have gone to Jordan Berry, who was signed to the practice squad.

Will the Steelers record have double digit losses this season .... as in 7-10?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:59
Right now that's looking ambitious.

Time to call Haden out of retirement?

If the injuries keep mounting...
OK that's all the time I have this week. Time to get back to writing. Let's do it again next Tuesday.
