When is Ben stop making stupid mistakes? Brady Or Rogers would have put this game out of reach by the end of the 3rd
Ray Fittipaldo

Not a good first game by Roethlisberger. He needs to do better. His track records suggests he'll do just that. They just need him to start playing well this week because it looks like the Chiefs offense might be pretty good.

Can we already say the 2017 draft was a huge success after just one year and one game? Some of the best players yesterday were our top 4 picks. Watt - 4 sacks, JuJu - leading receiver, Connor - leading rusher and Sutton - only TO forced w INT.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:18
Good point. Now let's see them keep it up for 16 games.

I don’t understand not using James Washington more in this game. Justin Hunter didn’t contribute at all. Washington played well in the pre-season and has a track record of being a competitive receiver. Any explanation for this?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:19
Guessing they just weren't confident he could help given his injury and his lack of practice time last week. They need Washington to start playing. Justin Hunter had one reception on five targets Sunday. The third receiver in this offense has to produce more.

Ben was horrible. any thoughts on why he gets off to such awful starts early season, and as to why he stinks it up on the road?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:20
He wasn't good and he needs to figure it out soon because the Chiefs just put up 38 points on the road against the Chargers.

Do you think the bell situation is the front office fault??
Ray Fittipaldo
12:22
Only to the extent that they should have known this "holdout" was a possibility and maybe prepared their players a little better for what happened last week. But I don't blame them for the way they handled the Bell business. It's a business. Just as I don't blame Bell for the business side of it. What I do blame Bell for is his lack of communication with the front office and how he's trying to prove a point where it's hard for one to be made. He can't improve his financial standing this year by staying away.

Given that Shazier/bells contracts will be off the books next year, will the steelers have enough salary cap to make a "splash" free agent signing?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:22
Yes if they so choose. They might just choose to sign some of their top players instead. We'll see how it goes.

Ray, I have to say this out loud. I think dumb penalties killed the Steelers yesterday. Offense and defense. Did Tomlin address this post-game?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:23
Not specifically, no.

Like the move of Davis to FS... Your thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:23
So far so good. Davis was pretty solid I thought.
Tom

Ray, Burns needs to sit to get the point across.  Cam needs to have a  long talk with him if Butler does not see the need.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:24
That penalty hurt the Steelers. Burns stood up after the game and took blame for it. That doesn't make it OK, but at least he understands he did something that hurt his teammates.

So did the Steelers get their annual ugly loss out of the way? I know it was a tie. But it wasn't a win, so ...
Ray Fittipaldo
12:24
They better hope so. They have a difficult schedule. That game Sunday could come back to haunt them.

Arron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Drew Brees were not rusty yesterday.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:25
No but Brees lost.

Overall thoughts on how Ben played? Hard to judge in weather, but his decision making was atrocious irrespective of weather.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:25
It was not his finest hour.
TJ
12:25
Who was the biggest liability on the Oline yesterday? Excellent run blocking but poor pass pro
Ray Fittipaldo
12:26
The tackles had a hard time with the wide nine techniques. They needed to get in better downs and distances so they guys wouldn't have been able to tee off the way they did. When you get behind the chains against a defense like that it's hard because they're making it very hard on the tackles.

How do you feel about this statement? L Bell is most missed in the passing game as Bens security blanket to move the sticks. IMO, Connor is just as good in running game but late in 4Q Ben had a hard time moving the ball w lead and Bell’s receiving ability was missed.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:27
I thought Conner was just fine as a receiver out of the backfield. If I blame Conner for anything it's the fumble. I think that cost the Steelers more than any other play. Not blaming Conner for the loss, but it's obvious to me that play swung the momentum.

Boswell,  Likes the praise but skips out of locker room before being interviewed.  Come on man..
Ray Fittipaldo
12:28
Yeah not a good look by him. He leaves the locker room early after most games, but he's been around long enough to know reporters want to talk to him after he misses a field goal attempt in that situation.
TJ
12:28
How would you assess Artie's play despite the brutal penalties? Can be step up and be a number one corner for us?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:29
The Browns didn't throw his way very often.
Munchak
12:29
Why is Mike Munchak not the OC?  Doesn't he have more experience as a Head Coach with the Titans?  QB preference?  Seems fishy.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:29
Mike Munchak has never been an OC. He's always been a line coach and for those three years in Tennessee a head coach.

Ray - it looks like the Steelers played down to competition again.  Tomlin has gotten some heat about this in the past but i think it should be under more discussion and he should be on the hot seat.  I know it not all on the coaches and that the players need to play, but lack of discipline and assignments commission was very obvious. Your thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:31
Tomlin needs to find a way to get a win yesterday. Whether that meant telling Randy to run more or making some adjustments in the fourth quarter when the Browns were making their comeback. Whatever it was, he needed to find a way to get it done. He did not. And that will go down as a big blemish on his record especially if the Steelers fail to make the playoffs.

How many games does ben loose for us with his incessant unforced errors.  He hardly plays like a vet and makes dumb, dumb, dumb mistakes!  So many unforced errors
Ray Fittipaldo
12:32
He certainly made a lot of errors yesterday. I won't argue that.

Did any of the other running backs get a single carry yesterday? Conner was great, but surely some fresh legs in the fourth could have helped a bit. He had to be gassed by then
Ray Fittipaldo
12:33
No other RBs got a carry. If Conner doesn't fumble I doubt anyone would even bring this up.
