How does the Steelers defense stop tyreke hill and mahomes cannon? If it wasn’t for Taylor and his noodle arm, there would have been a few long tds.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:34
They were able to keep Hill in check last year. Of course, that was when Alex Smith was throwing to him. This year they'll have to respect Mahomes' arm strength. Difficult task.

Ben's pocket awareness was not like usual....what was going on?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:35
Garrett was playing a wide nine and he was forcing Ben to step up in the pocket and hold the ball. Ben should have thrown some balls away instead of tacking sacks and fumbling.

Does Tomlin over rule our OCs when The Steelers have a lead in 2nd half? Steelers get conservative and always seem to make what seems to be an easy game hard.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:36
I don't know but he needed to find a way for the offense to play better than it did late in that game. It was dreadful in the fourth quarter and OT.

Was a little surprised that James Washington saw so few snaps, and as I recall zero targets, do you think his involvement  increases as the weeks go on?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:36
It better or the Steelers offense is in trouble.

Randy needs to open up playbook more?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:37
Randy needed to run the ball more yesterday in my opinion. He could have closed the playbook and simply called off tackle plays in the fourth quarter and won the game.

If Washington is injured, why play him on special teams? They need him emerge like JuJu did after a couple games into his rookie year for this O to take off.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:37
I agree.

What is your gut on wen bell comes back after 10 games? after the bye week? or this week?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:38
I think he'll report after eight games because he knows the Steelers are wielding the two-week roster exemption. So I think that's late October.

How will the tie affect the Steelers as far as standings at the end of the season? I wasn't sure if a tie would help, hurt, or do nothing as far as standings.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:39
When you tie a bad team it's like a loss. So unless the Browns win a game or two against the Ravens and Bengals then it's a loss in my mind.

Why no play action passing after Steelers got the run game going? The Clowns were selling out to stop the run, big plays were to be made with the 1on1’s!
Ray Fittipaldo

They took a couple of shots. Ben overthrew Hunter early in the game when he had one-on-one coverage. Ben and his receivers just weren't sharp yesterday. They need to play better.

Hey Ray, everyone is dogging our Offensive performance yesterday, but wouldn’t the headlines be much different today if our $20 million kicker hit a medium FG?  The continuous rain was a huge factor in that attempt and for most of our blunders, but no one seems to be considering that.  How many other offenses could’ve put up nearly 500 yards in those conditions?  Other SB struggled yesterday in much better weather conditions. Thanks
Ray Fittipaldo
12:41
Correct. But as you stated the weather most certainly was a factor in that miss. That's why I said Fichtner was way too conservative before that. He needed to get Boswell closer to try to score a TD in those conditions. I was not impressed with his play-calling there.

What do you see missing from our passing game? I know many players sat out the preseason and, to some extent, training camp.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:43
Justin Hunter is not a viable option as a No. 3 receiver. James Washington is. Ben sometimes gets it in his head that some players have to be part of the game plan. For a while there, it was Darrius Heyward-Bey. For a while it was Eli Rogers. Now it's Justin Hunter. Ben had a chance to work with Washington in the spring and decided it wasn't important enough to show up for OTAs. So Washington worked with Landry Jones, Josh Dobbs and Mason Rudolph. Once training camp started, Hunter still got more reps with Ben and the starters while Washington's reps were limited with the first-team offense. It made zero sense to me. Fichtner came into the media room on the night they drafted Washington and said he's a quick study and should earn a role quickly. Well, that needs to happen now. Nor more bringing him along slowly.
Mmm Mmm bad

Yesterday's tie... It was like getting kissed by a long lost Aunt & realizing, as you walk away, that she hit Taco Bell before the wedding reception.

Any news on Haden’s injury? If it’s long term, do you think the Steelers are  comfortable with Sutton taking over?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:44
The Steelers have an open locker room at 1:15 today. maybe we'll learn something then.

Maybe Conner needed a break (30+ rushes yesterday) no other RB touched the ball, perhaps fatigue helped cause his fumble?  Thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:45
Maybe. But at one point in the third quarter he was averaging 6.8 yards per carry. Why would you take him out of the game at that point?

12:45
Do you feel that the Steelers got too conservative on the overtime field goal attempt drive?  bos is  The man but I thought they could’ve at least tried to get 10 to 15 yards closer before going to a jumbo set
Ray Fittipaldo
12:45
This 100 percent.

I think we need to point out the fact that Tomlin brings a style of a undisciplined and unprepared teams, especially against the worst teams. I think this is a major issue with the Steelers. We see all of this trouble unfold, but we don't see that with New England ever. This has cost the Steelers games and Super Bowls. The talent is there, in fact, its the best. But, they always never have the discipline or preparation to back that up.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:47
There have been too many games like the one yesterday. I'll give you that. Bill Cowher was 108-1-1 when he had a double-digit lead. Tomlin should go back and take a look at his approach when he got up by a couple of scores. I have a hint. He didn't have his Qb dropping back and throwing as much as Haley and Fichtner allow.

Hi Ray, elements had a lot to do with our performance this weekend no doubt but not excuse.  As bad a day as ben had he put us there to win and Boz has got to make that kick.  Agree?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:47
Yes, but I'm not leaving it up to a kicker in those conditions. I don;t care how successful he's been in the past.
12:48
You have to count on the snapper to get it back there. The holder to catch it and place it on the wet ground and the kicker not to slip or anything like that. That's a lot of variables. Too many for my liking.

Hi Ray. If only Conner didn't fumble.... Do you think the Steelers were conservative with playcalling leading up to Boz OT kick?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:48
YES

Subbing DL when the other team is running hurry up offense? How can a professional team not know better? Embarrassing
Ray Fittipaldo
12:49
Yeah that was not a good sequence there for the defense and its coaches.

what is with the special teams rehearsed celebration in the end zone for covering what, a punt or kick off?  Why is Nix flexing as a showboat on a play they were penalized on?  He was also very close to being flagged for trash talking on a fair call punt?  100+ yards of penalties?   Miscommunication again on both sides of the ball?  Dupree running himself out of 50% of his pass rushes?  Welcome to Tomlin clown show 2018...
