If things don't improve drastically I can't imagine a scenario where he would return. That being said, there is plenty of time for the defense to turn things around.

in your true opinion.   If they go say 5-10-1, chances than Tomlin is finally out
Ray Fittipaldo
12:21
If they go 5-10-1 he might get canned.

How long will Dud Bupree be run out there? Any chance they bring someone else in?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:22
Who? Anthony Chickillo. I bet they're wishing they never put Ola Adeniyi on IR.
JoeB
12:22
Slow starts, playing down to the opponent (last week), lack of locker room control, miscommunications, non-accountability, all point to a problem with coaching, no?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:22
Of course. The coach deserves plenty of blame. And he's getting it.
Seth
12:22
Hi Ray why couldn't we get any pressure yesterday? Is it basic blitz's or not winning one on ones
Ray Fittipaldo
12:23
Patrick Mahomes was getting rid of the ball quickly. It was alarming how wide open receivers were in that amount of time.
Angry Rich
12:23
Do you feel embarrassed not only for the on the field stuff but off field as well?  As a fan, I do.  Organization is quickly becoming a joke.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:23
I'd agree to a certain point. They're not the Browns or the Bengals, but they're not the Steelers anymore.

Chances Butler is fired before seasons end?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:23
If this keeps up, maybe.
JoeB
12:23
When Tomlin says things like AB has earned where he is, doesn't that send the message to AB that he can get away with anything?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:24
Yes! 100 percent emoji! Fire emoji!Lightning emoji!
Angry Rich
12:24
Did you see any defensive bright spots yesterday?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:24
They managed to tackle someone in the end zone for a safety.
Ben

Plenty of blame for coaching and player development but front office ignored glaring need at corner (and had Haden fall into laps) last year, ignored ILB this year, and totally misread Bell situation effectively costing them $15m of defensive players who could make a difference. Seems like there is a good amount of insular thinking happening within the walls ...
Ray Fittipaldo
12:25
This is exactly what I mean when I write the front office deserve some blame too. The GM has made some errors in judgment and so has the president of the team.

Does anything in Tomlin's coaching history indicate to you that he can recover the locker room and right this ship? I say no way. If you think so, please explain why.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:26
The Steelers started 0-4 in 2013 and finished 8-8.
Angry Rich
12:26
How does the secondary not know how to line up at this point?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:27
Great question. I'm sure Mike Tomlin will get this question tomorrow and Keith Butler on Thursday. It's been a problem for a long time now.
BG

Ray lets bring this full circle how does Danny Smith keep his job? Seems to be penalties on 50% of the special teams plays that can kill momentum at times.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:28
Not a good day for the special teams yesterday. The kicker and the punter had bad days and there were some penalties, including a couple that were very costly.
Angry Rich
12:28
Is Tuitt another Lamarr Woodley?  Take the cash and run?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:28
Not yet, but he and the entire defensive line has to play better. You can't give up a 9-yard run on first down late in the game when everyone knows a run is coming. That's ridiculous.

Hi Ray almost looked like the same defense that played the Jags last season nothing changes nothing changes i guess wat are your thoughts?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:29
Yeah maybe they can trade Bud Dupree for Khalil Mack and Artie Burns for Jalen Ramsay.
Angry Rich
12:29
How much does it bother you the team is wasting the final years of one of the best QBs to ever play the game?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:30
It doesn't bother me at all as I am not a fan of the team. I cover them. But I see your point. They seemingly are doing just that.

Given that we have the same D coordinator and only added two middling defenders, should anyone be surprised that performance has not changed from last year?  Please give me a reason to believe that suddenly the D will know how to communicate or stuff runs.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:30
I can't.
steelerfan43yrs
12:30
do you think the rooneys would fire any one during season? Or would they let tomlin fire Butler mid season?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:31
They don't usually operate that way, but I never say never.
Stillers4Life
12:33
You've just been hired to take Colbert's place. What's your first order of business upon taking over? Enacting some kind of discipline? Hiring new coaches? What would Ray do?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:35
Exacting discipline would be one of my first priorities. You can't have different sets of rules for stars than everyone else in the locker room. I'd also set out to find some better players, cut a few guys and tell the coach he has to find a way to get more out of less in the interim.

Say the Steelers have a another couple of bad losses this season. Would they ever let Tomlin go mid-season or would they let hin finish? Thanks
Ray Fittipaldo
12:35
I can't see that happening midseason. Any changes would come after the season I think.

Steelers really should consider starting to make moves in draft. It’s hard to get the right type of playmakers when you pick 20-32 every year. Who would you rather have? Bud Dupree and Artie Burns or William Jackson? Burns and Sean Davis or Jalen Ramsey? Etc..
