They missed William Jackson by one spot in the draft. They wanted to draft him. They settled on Burns after the Bengals took him.
Colbert has his issues
12:36
5 #1 picks on the defensive side of the ball and yet they still cannot get a stop when needed. Bad players (wrong picks) or bad coaches?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:36
How about all of the above?
tom
12:38
is tomorrow the most excited you've been about a news conference in a while??
Ray Fittipaldo
12:38
We get in the locker room in a half hour. That should be interesting too.
Jim
12:39
hi ray I believe the head coach and front office have allowed this unstructured culture to fester far too long and it’s translated to the field. There is no personal accountability anywhere in sight. I don’t believe it’s bad players I believe it’s bad culture. You?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:39
Can't it be both?

12:39
Hi Ray - I noticed Cam Sutton a lot in the first half and it seemed Sensabaugh replaced him in the second half. Did he struggle in coverage and take a step backwards?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:40
He got benched in the first half. Guess he wasn't playing well.
Matt
12:41
Ray, looking at this schedule the Steelers will be lucky to finish 8-7-1. Any chance they ever trade AB & get bunch of picks and/or ILB/CBs?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:41
The Steelers aren't trading Antonio Brown. They refused to honor Martavis Bryant's trade request last year. You think they'll fold and do that for Brown?
Andy-md
12:42
why do you draft a hybrid Safety and cover the 2nd best TE in the NFL with a #51 who is not fast?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:42
Good question. The only answer I can come up with is the don't believe Edmunds is ready to assume that role yet.
Brett Roeder
12:42
What about Boswell. I don’t understand how he has no confidence after signing that deal.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:43
Place kickers can go south in a hurry. Look at what happened to Jeff Reed.
Matt
12:43
After watching that horrible Defensive performance yesterday, safe to say we need ILB & CBs early in draft next year along with RB?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:43
After watching the Chiefs game that's only half the list of needs.
Steve
12:43
I understand AB’s frustration. He is the premier receiver in the NFL and he’s not getting his share of targets. Does he see the benefit of drawing coverage to him and leaving guys like Juju and Jesse James open?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:44
Um, he's been targeted 33 times in two games I think.
Dave
12:44
I keep hearing the defense doesn’t have good enough players. They started 5 first round picks and two second round picks yesterday. 7 of the 11 starters taken in the first two rounds. So either they are misfiring left and right on top picks or they are doing a terrible job developing talent. Either way, doesn’t a LOT of that fall on Tomlin?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:44
Yes it most certainly does.
Thomas
12:44
Why in the world will they not put M. Thomas on the field at ILB?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:45
Well, he didn't know where to line up on special teams. What makes you think he has any idea of what's going on in the defense?
Retire 21
12:45
Special teams are horrendous....missed PAT and FGs, big punt return against them, penalty on their own one good return, punter sucks, player lines up wrong on free kick...…...what is going on?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:45
You just laid it all out. It was a terrible day for Danny Smith's units.
SteelyDon
12:46
I have a hard time understanding the logic of not going for the onside kick when they had not stopped KC all day. Steelers were at least able to move the ball on offence. Why not attempt to keep it out of KC's hands?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:46
I wrote about that Sunday night. There was no evidence the defense could get a three-and-out. You might as well try to recover the onside kick. It represented your best chance to win the game.

12:47
I think Tomlin and Colbert are not only to blame for the mess the team is in now but also their negligence in not addressing the middle linebacker position properly and the Bell debacle
Ray Fittipaldo
12:47
Fair point to criticize.
Steelers for life
12:47
Maybe Cowher could be persuaded to come out of retirement?  He just wouldn't look right on any other sideline
Ray Fittipaldo
12:47
I was waiting for this one.
Greg
12:48
Can you remember the last game the Steelers punted the call and you just *expected* the other team to score? I honestly cannot ....
Ray Fittipaldo
12:48
Jacksonville?
5 Towers Grub
12:48
Ray, I personally think 2 games is way too early to start jumping ship or calling for heads. If any season ticket holders want to dump their tickets, I'll take 'em! That said, did Butler's defense seem overly conservative because of KC's team speed? I didn't see a lot of clever blitzes.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:48
The blitzes I saw were mistimed. Same thing happened quite a bit last year.
Tom
12:48
Mike Hilton got called for a offside penalty on a critical 3rd down. The replay camera was basically a point of view of his, which showed him looking at QB instead of his clear view to the ball. Seems like a fundamental mental error. Is that on the coach or player?
Ray Fittipaldo
12:49
the player. How do you blame the coach for that?
EM
12:49
It’s time for Laveon to come back. He would help. Defense needs Joe Haden back. Artie Burn’s is tackling is dreadful.
Ray Fittipaldo
12:49
Can Bell play in the secondary?
Let em all go
12:50
I’d rather trade or get rid of the divas like brown and bell, dump the coaching staff now and lose every game and play with class for the rest of the year and rebuild than continue to watch these guys like brown and Bell think they are everything to everyone. What say you?
