Based on nothing but my observations, it would seem like Cora has more leeway with ownership than Bloom.
If for no other reason than they made a point to bring Cora back after the suspension

Why don't the Red Sox just cut Hosmer? Isn't he redundant with Casas? And since SD picked up most of his salary, it would cost them hardly anything...
Mark P

This is a distinct possibility, though releasing Hosmer might not happen until Spring Training, since the Sox would want to test the trade market first

If Eric Hosmer was the answer: what on Earth was the question?
Mark P

The Hosmer deal was a no-lose proposition for the Sox.  San Diego ate virtually all of the money, and Boston picked up two prospects.

Would the Sox consider trading Chris Sale? Are there any specific off-season targets for 2023?
Mark P

I'm sure they'd be very open to unloading Sale's contract, but there aren't many takers for an expensive veteran who has basically not pitched in three years

Sean Murphy for Casas, Yorke, and  Chris Murphy…who says no?
Mark P
6:31
That's the type of offer that would at least get Oakland's attention, though Yorke is coming off a rough 2022

Red Sox could best use a RFer who can play center - doesn't Brandon Nimmo seem like a perfect fit? What years/dollars would it take?
Mark P
6:33
Nimmo is going to cost around $100MM, given the lack of center fielders on the market this winter.  And with that being the case, Nimmo might prefer to join a team where he's the clear everyday CF.

where is Rick Porcello
Mark P
6:34
Porcello hasn't officially announced retirement to my knowledge, but he hasn't pitched since the 2020 season

Time to wrap things up.  Thanks so much for all the questions, and more team-centric chats will be coming up over the next few weeks.  For Sunday (i.e. tomorrow), a Nationals-related chat will likely be taking place, so stay tuned.
