You keep talking about the team's youth, but nowhere in there is a potential top of the rotation starter. Doesn't that lack, combined with a pitching rich free agent class this winter, trend toward at least one big signing by the team. If not, where are they getting that top of the rotation arm going forward?

There's almost always pitching in free agency. Next winter has Corbin Burnes, Max Fried, Walker Buehler, Shane Bieber, Nathan Eovaldi, Tyler Glasnow, and many more.

Personally, I think Woodruff's injury makes it less likely that Burnes is available.

Why pitch the whole season if you're 44 years old? Just start loosening up in June and sign with someone in July. I hope he follows through on this plan. I think it would change the game for the better.

All of Devers, Casas, and Yoshida are defensively limited and can't all share DH time. How will the Red Sox navigate this roster challenge if they hope to have a passable defensive team?

Well, they can share DH time. Each of them could get about 50 starts there over a full season, for instance. That's why I lean against Turner coming back, because he cuts into that.

I think the team is in a very interesting spot and I'm curious to see what they do next. One of the harder clubs to predict, especially without a new GM in place.
