Is Votto a first ballot HOF?
Anthony Franco
5:48
Can't see him getting in on first ballot, lean towards eventual induction though. I would vote for him

I definitely wasn’t in favor of the tear down that started last off-season, but with that said and as it’s expected they won’t be involved in any big free agent signings they need desperately an everyday veteran type bat in their Outfield and do think Michael Conforto be that guy?
Anthony Franco
5:49
Sure, I think they're a good fit for a Conforto bounceback deal
Favorable park for him to hopefully mash for a few months on a one-year deal, then move at the deadline. Makes sense

Which of last seasons trades did you like best? Not necessarily which netted the best prospects, that would be the Castillo trade. But which got the best return for what we gave up.
Anthony Franco
5:50
Hmm, I do like Encarnacion-Strand and Steer a lot. I think I'll go Mahle
5:51
I will say that I'm not at all familiar with Victor Acosta personally, but the public reports on him are pretty interesting. Getting that kind of upside flier for two months of Brandon Drury is a win

Any thoughts for a Senzel for Robles swap, both former top prospects with not so great results? Seems like the Senzel with 2.15 years of service for Robles with 3.033 years of service may be slightly in favor of the Senzel side, but the injury history for Senzel, may negate that difference. Seems like maybe a wash either way, but neither one is likely to be a big part of the next contending team in WSH or CIN, so maybe upside for upside if you're a gambler?
Anthony Franco
5:53
I'd rather just take another shot on Senzel if I were the Reds. Not service time related necessarily, but Robles' glove-only profile isn't a great fit for GABP anyways
And I think Senzel's more likely to be a viable major league hitter than Robles at this point

Do you see the reds poaching talent during the rule 5? I’m thinking teams like the dodgers will have a lot of players that could be playing in cinci but blocked in LA
Anthony Franco
5:54
Yeah I'd be surprised if they didn't take at least one player in the Rule 5. Could be a way to add a vaguely interesting bullpen arm
Nick Krall
5:54
Speaking of Brandon Drury……should I bring him back to be my 3rd baseman?
Anthony Franco
5:55
Eh I don't think they're really in position to buy high on a guy who'd mostly been a journeyman before what looks like a career year. He was only ok in San Diego after the trade too
They got more than they could've hoped for out of Drury as a minor league FA. I
5:56
Sorry
I'd be happy with the first deal and let him go elsewhere

Reds struggling with 40 room. No way for rule 5 players, but which two would you keep: Law, Gibault, Hoffman or Farmer?
Anthony Franco
5:57
This is Buck Farmer I'm guessing? Hoffman/Gibaut

No questions here about which Top 4 shortstop to sign, or if the Reds will sign Aaron Judge, or trade for Shohei. Keeps things down to earth, eh?
Difficult choices
5:57
Sign Judge; Trade for Shohei; sign Correa or Swanson; sign Rodon, deGrom, and Willson Contreras: Which does Krall do first?
Anthony Franco

Joey Gallo? Wouldn't be blocking anyone, and could bring a fan or two back.
Nick Krall
5:58
Would Cody Bellinger be a fit at GABP
Anthony Franco
5:59
Could see either making sense. Gallo feels a bit more plausible because he'll be cheaper and is less clean of a CF fit, which could limit his appeal to contenders a little more

The Red's need some help in the outfield. Assuming they can get another option in house for the 4th or 5th starter, do they look at a big bat for 2024 as their major expenditure?
Anthony Franco
6:00
Obviously that depends on how things play out over the coming season, particularly as to whether any of the younger guys (Barrero, Steer, De La Cruz, CES, etc.) lock down everyday jobs on the '24 Opening Day roster by then
6:01
But broadly speaking, yeah, I think this is kind of the plan. Take a year to see where the major weaknesses on the roster remain while clearing off the rest of the money on the books, then strike for a bat or two via trade/FA next offseason
6:02
Alright we're at the hour mark here. I have to run but if you want to throw anything at me on Twitter, I'm happy to take questions there @affranco10
6:03
I also run weekly chat exclusive to Front Office subscribers, and the queues are small enough you're very likely to get a response in those

There's a link to our membership page if that's of interest
Thanks for all the questions, enjoy your night!
