Hi, can you switch ur degree a few  weeks in or do you have to wait until the next year?
AvatarJames Leslie

It depends on what your course is and whether there is the option to change to the course you want to move to, i.e. if there is space.  This is why it is important that you research the course you want to do fully and ask lots of questions before you apply.

Apart from picking our degree choices and such, is there any other tips for university/ university student life in general that we could do now?
AvatarHaaroon

You can join any clubs or activities at your school to help develop any personal interests you have. This will also help with your personal statement. Main thing right now is to select the course your interested in, think about which universities you want to apply to and try and get some work experience

What are extracurricular activities / clubs like at Leeds Uni? Are they managed by students?
AvatarMeghan Clamp
4:26
they are lots of fun! I was part of the musical theatre society and I absolutely loved it! we have over 300 here at Leeds. Yes and it gives students the opportunity to take up president, secretarial and finance roles that develop a wide range of skills :) https://www.luu.org.uk/news/2022/09/20/clubs-and-societies-at-luu-the-...

I have heard Leeds uni is a very competitive uni to get into so what tips would you give us to increase our chances of getting offers at Leeds uni and stuff that we should do?
AvatarJames Leslie
4:31
Hi Asim hope you are well?  Some courses are more popular than others and so do receive more applications this is true.  It is a case then to make take as many opportunities as possible so you can talk about them on your UCAS application.  We will be covering this at the next couple of RFE events so look out for the event information and get yourself booked on.

Hi, I was wondering if you knew how programmes such as RfE and RO help students to be selected for certain courses, such as medicine, over students who don't qualify for these programmes? Thank you.
AvatarJames Leslie

If you apply for a course at Leeds and complete the RFE scheme then you are eligible to apply for Access to Leeds which means you may receive extra consideration when you submit a UCAS application.  Being part of RFE also means you have taken part in a lot of activities and these can be used as part of your personal statement.  We can also help you review and make your personal statement be the best it can be for your UCAS application with our personal statement surgeries that we offer in Year 13.

AvatarMeghan Clamp

Christen Alilio

By doing RFE I am aware that Leeds uni lowers grades for courses but do other unis do it aswell ?
AvatarJames Leslie
4:43
Other Universities may have a contextual admissions scheme and so I would advise you to check their websites for information or speak to admissions teams if you have a chance to go to a Open day for example.
