Good afternoon from Lincoln Financial Field. We are 2 hours away from Steelers-Eagles -- or as Mike Tomlin calls it -- the Pennsylvania state championship.
2:31
The Steelers ruled out three players on Friday -- George Pickens, DeShon Elliott and Larry Ogunjobi. Inactives will be announced in about a half hour, but everyone else on the injury report should dress. Montravius Adams came off IR yesterday and has no injury designation for the game.

Bliitzburgh needs to show up today.
run blitz schemed to keep hurts
Ray Fittipaldo
2:33
Yes, the pass rush has to show up today, but as you mentioned keeping Hurts in the pocket will be important too. He hasn't been effective throwing the ball lately, and the Steelers will want to keep him in the pocket and work through his progressions.

Did the Steelers have to release someone to put Adams on the roster?
Ray Fittipaldo
2:35
No, they just put backup OL Calvin Anderson on IR. That was the corresponding move.
2:36
Former Steelers QB Kenny Pickett chatting with TE Pat Freiermuth on the field just now.

Prediction. We intercept Hurts when he is forcing the ball to Brown to appease him.

It will be interesting to see how the Eagles approach this delicate situation. Obviously, things aren't peachy between Hurts and Brown at the moment. I think the Steelers know the Eagles probably want to get Brown involved early. They've basically lived off their defense and running game the past few weeks.

Did you just see Myles Garrett go down in obvious pain after getting slapped on the left side of his helmet? This still pales in comparison to attempting to hit someone over the head  with their own helmet. Let's anyone forget.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:42
They have a nice little setup in the press box here with Red Zone on all the TVs, but I did not see that happen. By the way, the one early game involving playoff implications is going in the Steelers' favor. The Texans are beating the Dolphins, 13-6, at halftime. If the Dolphins lose and the Colts lose in Denver the Steelers are in the playoffs no matter what happens here in Philly.

Garrett got poked in the eye. They put a visor on his helmet and he’s back in the game.

Any predictions as to what Steeler(s) has a great game?  I'm rooting for Minkah today.

2:47
Pat Freiermuth should be a focal point today. Najee Harris, too. Defensively, Patrick Queen will need to be all over the field against Saquon Barkley and this running game.
Hi everyone, btw
Ray Fittipaldo

Fitzpatrick and the secondary certainly had a bad game in 2022 the last time the Steelers were here. That's a good call. On offense, I like Mike Williams and Pat Freiermuth might have big games.

My gosh....Browns imploding every time they touch the ball.
Ray Fittipaldo
2:58
Here are the Steelers inactives for today: QB Kyle Allen, WR George Pickens, S DeShon Elliott, DB Cory Trice Jr. and DL Larry Ogunjobi.

2:59
I’m hoping not to see Pruitt, Connor Hayward or Patterson on the field at all today
Ray Fittipaldo
2:59
You're going to be disappointed, Hillbilly.

Lol. Other than special teams. They contribute nothing to the offense

Deshon Elliott out is absolutely huge...stating the obvious i know
Ray Fittipaldo

Elliott is so good in the run game, a sure tackler. They will miss him versus Barkley for sure.

In hindsight since they were going to decide not to pick up Najee’s option, why didn’t the Steelers get in on the bidding for Barkley or Henry?  The way they mangled the WR position, it would be nice to have a dynamic back.
Ray Fittipaldo
3:02
They like Jaylen Warren. Assuming Harris does walk in free agency, they'll have Warren as No. 1 next season and probably draft one to be his sidekick.
3:11
It's cold here today, but not cold enough for snow. Rain is expected during the game, might get a wintry mix.
Hillbilly
3:11
Baltimore is hammering the G-men. No surprise there.

Obviously Diontae Johnson has issues, but how should the Steelers have handled the WR and CB position last spring.  Options ended up including: 1) keep Diontae and draft Quinyon Mitchell who is having a rookie of the year type season for the Eagles as a CB.  2) trade diontae for donte and draft Brian Thomas who has over 900 yards.  Or 3) Draft a tackle who had injury concerns and only projected as an immediate starter after Brod Jones imploded, sign Van Jefferson and trade for the seldom used Mike Williams?  Obviously they went with option 3, but they would be serious contenders if they went with 1 or 2.
Ray Fittipaldo
3:13
At 10-3, they're not serious contenders now? It's easy tp second-guess, but they are in the process of rebuilding their offensive and defensive lines first. That's how Andy Weidl wants to build this roster.

3:15
It is gross negligence that they gave this otherwise contending roster a receiving corps that is not competitive beyond Pickens.  The plan seemed to be hope the 49ers would let the Steelers grossly overpay Aiyuk.
Ray Fittipaldo
3:17
I get it and I agree to a point, but Mike Tomlin has consistently said this WR corps is capable. It's not pretty at times, especially when Pickens is out of the lineup. But they've won 10 of 13 to this point. Maybe this is the stretch where it catches up to them. I think you have to look at the way Arthur Smith likes to use his personnel and the way Russell Wilson spreads the ball around. This isn't an offense that necessarily needs big-name WRs to have success.

Three games in 11 days. Proof that the NFL‘s concern for player safety is nothing but lip service.
Ray Fittipaldo
3:22
Yep, but at leas there are three other teams in the same boat with the same disadvantages. The Ravens, Chiefs and Texans also have to deal with it. Coincidentally, all four teams are in the thick of the AFC playoff race. Maybe the Bills are the beneficiary of this NFL money grab.

Saying it now Steelers win 30-20 against the eagles
Ray Fittipaldo
3:23
Wow 30 points without Pickens. Can't say I'm that optimistic.
Hillbilly
3:24
Yeah, thanks. I remembered the Chiefs and the ravens being in the same boat, but forgot about the Texans.
Ray Fittipaldo
3:26
The Texans, by the way, are up 20-12 over the Dolphins late in the third quarter.
Hillbilly
3:32
That will help. I was hoping to see Cleveland find a way to beat KC today.
Ray Fittipaldo
3:32
Jameis a turnover machine again today. He'll be somewhere else throwing INTs next year.
Hillbilly
3:33
Hahaha!  True dat
