Hello...Just joining...I'm sure this is already been mentioned. I'm really not feeling Rodgers as a choice for QB as discussed on several national platforms
Christopher Carter

Personally, I'm on the side of caution when it comes to Aaron Rodgers as well. The Jets were on the cusp of being a real threat in the AFC East with a growing defense and an offense that was basically a good QB away from being dangerous. Now, they've been imploded and Rodgers was at the heart of that happening. I just don't see it working with him. But hey, Mike Tomlin got 9 years out of Antonio Brown.

It appears Carter has entered the fray. I'm gonna go write a little about the dearly departed Craig Wolfley, who will leave a humongous void in any place associated with the Steelers and plenty others around Pittsburgh. RIP to a wonderful man.
Christopher Carter

To echo Brian, the world lost a great man in Craig Wolfley. I'm honored to have known him and know he's up in heaven somewhere hanging out with Tunch Ilkin.

To your knowledge did the Steelers try to acquire or sign any other WRs before DK Metcalf?
Christopher Carter
1:08
Think of it to be less than them trying to acquire a different WR and more about inquiring about what it would take to acquire one of them. They've made many calls to get to this point.

Dan Moore signing w/ Tenn for 82M brings a major comp pick back, right?
Christopher Carter
1:11
Former Steelers OT Dan More Jr. cashes in big in free agency. He just signed with the Tennessee Titans for 4 years, $82M.

Won't pretend to know exactly how the compensation system will work but that is an eye-popping amount for Moore
Christopher Carter
1:12
$50M of that is guaranteed.
1:13
Have to think that Dan Moore would generate a big return in comp picks for next year. If Najee Harris signs big somewhere, that could make for a decent haul.
1:15
However, it's important to remember that compensatory picks are also determined by the amount and quality of contracts in the FAs you sign.
So it's possible that with the Steelers' big salary cap space this offseason that Moore's signing in Tennessee could be offset by other signings of their own.

Build the roster. Take any QB on the cheap. Draft a QUALITY QB next year. Trade up if you have to but get the franchise QB to plug and play with the built up roster
Christopher Carter
1:18
I'm with Doyle on this strategy. It makes more sense to not over-invest into a mid-level QB and invest in building a top-tier roster.
Then getting the QB of the future you really want in a better QB draft class.
1:19
I'll also hypothesize this here: the rumors of the Steelers being close on Aaron Rodgers could be a smokescreen to show they're not as desperate for Justin Fields and give them more leverage to get Fields' agents to the negotiation table. Just a theory.

Since Larry Ogunjobi is still on the roster does not mean they will not still trade him. He could be a draft day trade.
Christopher Carter
1:20
I have to think with his lack of production he wouldn't NET a whole lot right now. I admit I thought he'd be cut by now to clear up the $7M in cap space it could.

Could they realistically get a third for Pickens?  I read there isn't a lot of interest in getting a headache around the league.
Christopher Carter
1:22
I think a third wouldn't be crazy for George Pickens. Remember, he's still productive and a playmaker. Chase Claypool had less yards and touchdowns when Omar Khan got a 2nd round pick for him.

Two questions. Clear from the DK signing that Pickens should have texted his realtor by now? They obviously have a limit on the amount they’re paying QB and it’s not high enough for the Fields camp. When this falls through and Fields signs with the Jets, a name nobody has mentioned (to my knowledge) is Wentz. Fits Tomlin’s MO - washed up high draft pick. Maybe time with Andy in KC rejuvenated him. Better than the rest I’ve heard and should be cheap.
Christopher Carter
1:23
I don't think Metcalf's contract means Pickens should be out the door. If the Steelers sign a non-expensive QB, I could see them finding a way to make it work temporarily to keep both around. Look at what Sam Darnold did with Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison. I think that's a doable situation.
1:24
As for Carson Wentz ... I mean ... at that point just get Daniel Jones lol
Swannie88
1:24
Assuming Steelers don’t re-acquire a second rd pick, the team must go DL first round. Correct?
Christopher Carter
1:24
Even if they do get a second round pick back, I'm still going DT in this draft class. Kenneth Grant or Derrick Harmon would be huge for this team.
Ben
1:24
Love the metcalf trade. He just turned 27, he’s better than any 2nd round receiver, they have the cap space b/c no qb, and this absolutely frees us from the Pickens hostage situation we were in. Trade Pickens and we can keep drafting wrs in the 3rd or 4th round with him as a cornerstone. On to dline, cb, spend the extra $3m or will take to wrap up fields for two years. You can cut Larry O to pay for it!
Christopher Carter
1:25
We're thinking alike Ben!

I don't see Fields getting QB1 offers.  If Fields was their choice wouldn't it be done by now?
Christopher Carter
1:25
Never underestimate the confidence in an organization to think they can reform a former first round pick quarterback into their franchise guy. Someone will try.

I understand the Steelers have already offered Fields a contract. Do you think he will give them a chance to match or better another offer or as some insiders suggest he's not coming back.
Christopher Carter
1:27
I foresee Justin Fields looking into every opportunity to earn more money. I know some people out there just think he hates the Steelers because he was QB2 and when QB1 was healthy he rode the bench ... but that's been coming mostly from people not around the locker room.

It seems hard to believe, but xn they really go with 5 different QBs since Ben retired?
Christopher Carter

Welcome to life without a franchise QB.

Hi - Any surprise free agents that the Steelers may sign that you are hearing?
Christopher Carter
1:28
Keep an eye out for slot CB Nate Hobbs. With Twitter being down, who knows he might've already signed. But he's someone I'd watch for.

Is TJ getting the money, or is all the cash flowing toward the offense now?
Christopher Carter
1:30
TJ already gets the money and I don't think they're in the business of getting rid of HOF defenders considering they just paid Cam last season. They have around $134M in cap space next season when factoring in DK Metcalf. Have a hard time seeing  them not spend a little bit more to make sure Watt sticks around.

My thoughts which have probably been echoed....Re-sign Fields (if possible)....draft a QB NEXT season....don't reach (cough cough KP8)

If the Steelers plan to pursue Darnold, as reports indicate, doesn't that mean they don't think that either Fields or Wilson are the best options at QB? And, conversely, if Darnold goes elsewhere, is there some fence mending to be done between whoever returns and the coaching staff?
