Maybe. But the Steelers also could've moved to Fields a lot earlier. He might have reacted differently.
Christopher Carter
2:54
That's the gambles you make in FA.
the stillers use to be good
2:55
chris is this the year the Steelers finish with a losing record ?  I mean cmon.  Wilson or Rodgers.  They will be sack machines.
Christopher Carter
2:55
I mean, we've been hearing people say that with Mitch Trubisky, Kenny Pickett, Mason Rudolph, Duck Hodges ... and Russell Wilson last season. Maybe this is the year? But would still be right less than a broken clock.

Not a good look for Omar and Coach T, that they are stuck with these three dudes - old and slow, older and slower, younger but not good. Strikes me as not having a plan to aggressively resolve your biggest issue.
Christopher Carter
2:57
My thing is: they weren't *resolving* much this year at QB. Was always a bridge option.

Chris I wonder about O line. What about some FA depth or swing tackle to fill some holes?
Christopher Carter
2:58
Wouldn't be against it. Can't say I have many of those on my mind atm.
Brian Batko
2:58
Suddenly I'm very in on this year's QB draft class.

2:58
Wilson with some draft picks. Unleash the offense. Get the QB next year
Christopher Carter
2:58
Wilson with Metcalf-Pickens for dual deep ball threats and a better OL could be interesting.

I don't necessarily know that I dislike the moves the Steelers are making in a vacuum, but this whole process feels pretty incoherent to me. Which is unusual for them.

Can Wilson and A Smith mend the fence?  I don’t want to see Rodgers in Pitt
Christopher Carter
3:01
Arthur Smith texts Russell WIlson: "Hey bighead ... how's it going?"
Brian Batko
3:01
At this point I'm not sure what would be more dysfunctional, Wilson and Smith working together again or *gestures wildly at Aaron Rodgers*
Christopher Carter
3:01
The answer is yes, Brian.

3:02
At this point, I don't know how you don't bring Russ back. But they have mangled the quarterback situation since the day Ben blew his arm out.
Christopher Carter
3:03
This is where I'm at. Russell Wilson knows the system, isn't a circus like Aaron Rodgers, and now you'd have two moonball threats in Pickens and Metcalf.
James A from the

Rodgers has a quicker release and can still sidestep oncoming traffic, and can still throw a pretty deep ball.  He might be cheaper too. Do you think both QBs are asking for similar numbers?
Christopher Carter
3:04
I'm no expert in what over the hill QBs ask for, but I have to think that Rodgers would ask for more than Wilson.

Would the Steelers have offered Fields the same financial package he got from the Jets?
Brian Batko
3:05
It would not have been unreasonable, in my view. But let's see the structure of the deal.

So unless K Grant or D Harmon are still available, it’s looking like Jahdae Barron might be the 1st round direction the Steelers are headed, thoughts?
Christopher Carter
3:06
Jahdae Barron might be gone before the Steelers pick. But who knows? I think a win would be either Barron or Will Johnson at CB in the first. Grant or Harmon are the preferred DTs who should have the best chance to be around.

Wilson has always said he wanted to stay in Pittsburgh.  How long until that happens?
Christopher Carter
3:06
Personally, I have to think this happens soon. I'm not sure what other available options are out there for the Steelers to work.
Brian Batko
3:07
Aaron Rodgers, of course, Chris
Christopher Carter
3:08
Well, I mean between picking one or the other.
BP in BP
3:09
So we are deciding between Rodgers and Wilson, each of which have no other options than the Steelers?
Brian Batko
3:09
The Giants are out there. The Vikings, too, I guess. And Titans but they have the No. 1 pick, obviously.

if Wilson does come back will we see if he can push a blocking sled on the first day of camp?
Christopher Carter
3:10
HA.
Brian Batko
3:10
It wasn't a blocking sled, but sure, Round 2
Christopher Carter
3:10
I legit snorted.

How did Justin Fields enhance his reputation after getting benched?  What made him more valuable to the Jets than Rodgers who had 28 touchdown passes, I think Fields would need two years to reach that number
Brian Batko
3:13
He's still a former 11th overall pick who's only 26 and can run like the wind. That buys you a lot of time with NFL evaluators and, clearly, a lot of guaranteed money too.

What happened with the possible negotiations with Darnold? Is that off the table now?
Brian Batko
3:14
Sam Darnold signed with Seattle
Big Ed
3:14
Brian, who do you prefer for this offense? Russell Wilson or Aaron Rodgers?
Brian Batko
3:14
I think Aaron Rodgers is a better player than Russell Wilson at this point
