Did anyone ask Tomlin this week about the consistent slow starts and about being blown out in the playoffs recently? Curious if he proposed any solutions.
Brian Batko
7:18
Yes. He said it's a "good question" why they've been such slow starters, some of it has to do with their own lack of execution and some has to do with good opponents. But he said they've been working hard to rectify it. As for the playoff drought, he hasn't spent a lot of time pondering it because he's focused on this game.

Better matchup for Steelers, ravens or Texans?
Ray Fittipaldo

Texans D is looking impressive this afternoon.
7:22
Until giving up that long TD!

Do the Steelers script their first 15 plays ? If so, I can't believe after a week long preparation that these are our best plays??
Ray Fittipaldo
7:25
Yes they do, but it's never followed in order and Smith can go off script depending on game circumstances.
Pete

You know this really sucks. Just about all of the national media, and even most of the Pittsburgh staffs do not give the Steelers a chance. We are all going into this game with our heads already hanging down!
Ray Fittipaldo
7:26
That's what happens when you lose four in a row heading into the playoffs.

Is not enough being made about the lack of draft pick availability because of the trades for Williams and Smith? Very little wiggle room. With needs at rb, dl, wr and likely qb... Is it the standard answer of let's wait and see or is there an obvious plan here?
Brian Batko
7:31
Preston Smith cost barely anything. Trading a fifth for Mike Williams could look like a major waste if they lose this game and he doesn't contribute much yet again. And I don't consider that an indictment on Williams, more so the coaches' lack of using him more in favor of Van Jefferson, Scotty Miller, etc.

Since Arians left, have you seen a game where you said, wow, what a great offensive game plan?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:31
What about 44-38 on December 1 in Cincinnati? That was pretty good.

Seems like forever ago.

It does.

Maybe Tomlin and Smith will surprise us and NOT have Wilson hand the ball to Najee the first time the Steelers have the ball.  I’m not going to hold my breath.
Ray Fittipaldo
7:33
They have to try something different, right?

Is Preston Smith under contract for next season?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:34
Yes, but the Steelers can cut him without any cap ramifications.

Is mike williams under contract for next season?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:35
No

I agree with J-Ray.  Steelers’ offense is predictable and unimaginative.  They need to use Darnell W. more.

I had a dream last night that the Steelers moved Jones to LT, Fauntau at LG, Frazier at C, McCormack at RT and used the upcoming #1 on. RT and Gerry Dulac broke all his golf clubs!
Ray Fittipaldo
7:37
That's a helluva dream!

So one game in how many years since Arian’s ray?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:37
Didn't they average 30 points per game one season when Todd Haley was the OC? And not long after Arians was "retired"?
Brian Batko
7:38
Will be curious to see if Joey Porter Jr. shadows Rashod Bateman in this game. I think that would make sense for the Steelers. I'd worry about Donte Jackson in coverage on him, but not so much on guys like Tylan Wallace, Anthony Miller, Nelson Agholor.

again how long ago was that ray? Feels like a 100 years

Mike Tomlin just blew a kiss to the Ravens fans in the front rows while he and Cam Heyward walked back to the tunnel to the locker room.

Today would be a good day for Minkah to show up big!

They need to double Andrews and play man on everyone else.  If you have no Flowers and you can slow down Andrews, it won’t be better than that because you can use 6/7 in the box

Ray and Brian: If Tomlin left the Steelers, be it by firing, trade, etc, who are a couple of coaches you would like to succeed him?
Brian Batko
7:44
Here are some names I think would be good candidates: Brian Flores, Brian Johnson, really anyone named Brian.
