Brian: Your response to Hillbilly is exactly why Steelers fans are chanting for Tomlin to be fired. Nothing will change until he's gone. Is Rooney that blind?
Brian Batko
6:50
To be clear, I was joking. I don't know if the head coach would change, but I do think someone prominent would have to fall on his sword. At least one, actually.

Ray/Brian:  there has been a lot of talk about whether or not there will be "Fire Tomlin" or even "Sell the team" chants at the draft assuming a loss tonight, but what kind of reception will Roger G. get after the DKM suspension?  I thought that suspension was light for that type of egregious behavior, but most in Steeler Nation think we got jobbed.  Goodell always gets booed at the draft, but this could be an entirely new level.
Ray Fittipaldo
6:52
Probably not a good reception, but he makes $50 million a year. Somehow he manages to sleep at night.
6:54
Tonight's inactives: WR Roman Wilson, RB Kaleb Johnson, CB Tre Flowers, OLB Jeremiah Moon, OL Jack Driscoll and QB Will Howard (3rd QB).
Brian Batko
6:55
Steelers WRs tonight: Adam Thielen, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Calvin Austin III, Scott Miller, Ben Skowronek

Ridiculous that they can't get Wilson ready to play when we need speed at WR.
Ray Fittipaldo
6:57
Not much sense in playing him if the QB doesn't trust him.

No one seems to understand why Muuth has not been targeted more this year (including the Post Gazette staff). But surely you've asked Art Smith? What does he say?
Brian Batko
6:58
The go-to explanation this year has been not enough plays on offense. Which is kind of hilarious. You almost have to respect the commitment to such an inane answer.
Ray Fittipaldo
6:58
Pretty much every Thursday when we interview the coordinators. His answer is the same pretty much every time he's asked. There are lots of capable players on the offense, etc.

Ray what is your score prediction for tonight I’m saying 31-21 Steelers
Ray Fittipaldo
7:01
Ravens 20, Steelers 17

I think there is a lot at stake for the Ravens tonight even beyond the obvious.  This is a strange year where you could easily see the #6 seed and the #7 seed beating the #3, the #2, and then the #1.  The Ravens could beat Houston, then beat the #6 seed at home and then be hosting the #7 seed for the AFC Championship game
Ray Fittipaldo
7:02
This is a wide open AFC, but the one team I don't see making a run is the Ravens. Don't think they have the defense to sustain a long postseason run.

After all my years subscribing I never realized what this chat was. It's been very enlightening and I thank both you and Brian, Ray. O ye of little faith, we will prevail this evening. And no, those dirty birds don't have what it takes.
Ray Fittipaldo

Thanks Steeler Steve

The Radio crew just compared the Metcalf incident to the Patriots having two guys assaulting people at their homes in separate incidents and not getting suspended.  When will everybody understand, the NFL is liable for fan safety at games?  Metcalf exposed them to liability.  Not from a societal perspective, but from an NFL perspective what Metcalf did is WAY worse than a player beating someone up away from the game.
Ray Fittipaldo
7:05
The NFL also tends to let the legal process play out before administering punishment in all cases, but that situation in New England is a distraction the Patriots don't need going into the postseason.

I know none of the locals picked the Steelers tonight but did any national people pick them?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:07
Don't have a rundown, but I happened to have ESPN on this morning and Bruschi and Greenberg picked the Steelers. Ryan, Moss and Smith picked the Ravens.

7:07
I’m thinking our defense is the key to. Victory tonight against the ravens.
Ray Fittipaldo
7:07
I'm thinking you're right.

Being the underdogs seem to bod well for the Steelers.   They take it personally and usually play pretty well.
Yitzer
7:10
Do the Ravens try to outthink us and pass more than run Henry knowing we will be keying on stopping him. Or do they run his wheels off
Ray Fittipaldo
7:11
Who knows with them, but I'd run the wheels off Henry.
Steel city kidd
7:13
How did we lose to Browns when so much on line
Ray Fittipaldo
7:13
Bad start by the defense and the offense never got started at all.

That list you provided for tonight's receivers is brutal. If Wilson can't crack that lineup, who's fault is it? Rodgers, Wilson and the coaching staff have had all year to get on the same page.
Ray Fittipaldo
7:16
The quarterback is pretty particular if you haven't noticed. He likes his WRs to be detailed in everything they do.
Chuck Penn Hills
7:19
I understand Rodgers may not “like” Roman, but do we know what the actual specifics of that may be?  After MVS horrible game last week (wrong route on the 2nd and goal, not getting open, etc) it seems a little high-schoolish to let Rodgers decide on someone playing or not, especially someone the Steelers picked before he was here.  My question is, do we know what the COACHES really think of Roman?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:21
If the coaches felt strongly he was a better option he'd be in the lineup. It's not just the QB's decision. But as I stated earlier, Rodgers is a big detail guy. Thielen came in in the middle of the season and has been a starter because he's detailed and doesn't make mental mistakes. He lines up in the right spots. He run his routes in a precise manner. Get the idea?
Larry
7:23
Really, Ray? MVS broke the wrong way in the last drive last week. Plus 3 incompletes to him. Roman has been in Tom;ins dog house for over a year.
Ray Fittipaldo
7:24
Wilson was on IR last year. Don't know that he was in anyone's doghouse.
Yates
7:24
Remind me what was Echols injury?  Will he be on snap count?
Ray Fittipaldo
7:24
Groin. And I don't get the sense he'll be limited in any way.
Brian Batko
7:25
Calvin Austin III back fielding punts now, along with Scotty Miller. We'll see if he's 100% coming off that brief absence from a hamstring injury.
7:26
And D'Shawn Jamison, elevated from the practice squad, is fielding kickoffs so they might utilize his quickness there and try to break one with everything on the line.
Yates
7:28
No more jump balls to our WRs please. This roster does not have that guy
Brian Batko
7:29
No, no it does not.
