A poem usually has short lines in the middle of the page. sometimes it rhymes and has a syllable pattern.

You are used to seeing poems like cinquains that are very short, or have a lot of rhyming. Michael Rosen's aren't like that, they look like a 'normal' piece of writing. Just like a short story.

Lots of good answers! Two or three paragraphs is about right. You want to tell all of the story, but quickly so people don't lose interest.

When Michael tells his story poems, what really makes them interesting? Chocolate Cake is just about a boy eating cake when he should have been in bed, but you all love it and it makes you laugh, You know it nearly off by heart! What's different about the way he tells it to you?

It does not matter how long just make sure not to long otherwise the reader will get bored. And a mixture of words.
