Hi Emily, the Union offers support and guidance as well as clubs and societies you can join. By signing up with them they can signpost you to lots of support and events within the University. Ordinarily you can sign up to join a club or a society during your first weeks at University - this year a lot of this is happening online. More information on what is on offer at the University of Leeds Student Union (also known as LUU) can be found here - https://www.luu.org.uk/

I hope that helps.

Hi, okay thank you

Hi Emily, I believe it is that you can either set up a direct debit so your payments come out automatically or you can go into accommodation and pay in person.
Emily

When choosing the installment plan for accommodation fees, you are given the option to use direct debit or debit card what is the difference here?

Hi Emily, in what context do you mean this? Is this for your tuition fees? Or something different?

Hi, I was wondering how direct debit works when chosen as an option.

Hi! Thanks for the question.
If you're self-funding, you must either pay in full before or on the day of registration, or set up an instalment plan.
The tuition fees are payable in two instalments:
  • 50% before or on the day of registration.
  • 50% in February 2021 by direct debit from a UK current account.
If you have a UK current account, details can be provided when you set up your instalment plan. We won't take an immediate payment using these details.

If you are an International student and do not already have a UK current account you can pay your first instalment using a different method and set up a UK current account after you arrive in Leeds. To avoid delaying your registration while you wait for a bank account you can select an instalment plan which does not require UK bank details until a later date.
