It's a bit Cubs like where I guess the owners could go against their history, but I wouldn't bet on it.  At most I could see them signing Grandal or a player of that level.  Not seeing the $400MM contract though.

It seems like Patrick Corbin could have the most teams competing for him. Could you foresee him going over $25 million a year?
Steve Adams
2:08
Seemed pretty clear they're going to spend some dough based on his initial comments. Doubt that means Machado/Bryce level, but we were in general agreement that multiple big-name RPs were posisble.
Tim Dierkes
2:08
I would not predict Corbin reaching that AAV, but I think it's possible.
William

What relief pitcher could be had on the low who you think would be a good one to take a chance on?
Steve Adams
2:09
Sure. We had him at 6/129 but it's not impossible  a team would go comparable guarantee over five years. More about total guarantee in some instances
(Especially if you're a team that's never going to risk paying the luxury tax anyway)
Tim Dierkes

Trevor Rosenthal was on that list for sure.  Herrera, Cody Allen, and of course Jesse Chavez.

I don’t feel like the Brewers are considered a big enough player for Keuchel. Is it unrealistic to think that he could land there?
Steve Adams
2:09
Rosenthal, Kelvin Herrera
Tim Dierkes
2:10
I do find that unrealistic.  They appear to have limited payroll capacity.
Steve Adams
2:10
Don't see why they're more likely than the teams we listed for Keuchel.
Tim Dierkes
2:10
The Brewers could use an SP though and they could maybe create enough room to play on the $10-12MM a year types.
Steve Adams

Plus has Stearns ever signed a QO'ed free agent?
Aidan

Do you think that Machado’s postseason antics have caused some teams to sour on him just a bit? In other words, do you think his antics may have ended up costing him any money?
Tim Dierkes
2:11
Yes, we mentioned that in his blurb.  I think a team or two might back off.  Still think he'll do quite well.
Stan

Is the reason Harper doesn’t sign in STL because the cards don’t offer enough or bc Harper just wants to play elsewhere?
Steve Adams
2:11
Can't envision the Cards winning a bidding war, myself.
Tim Dierkes
2:12
I find the Cardinals a viable option for Bryce.  They've gone big game fishing at times.

Prediction: Patrick Corbin- 5yr/120 mil with the Twins

Will there be a Top 50 Free Agent Predictions Contest this year?
Steve Adams
2:12
I'm of the mind that the Twins will be willing to spend pretty significantly this winter, but as to determining any individual free agent's preferences -- that's anyone's guess. I can see them offering something in that ballpark, but who's to say Corbin doesn't prefer to sign elsewhere?
Tim Dierkes
2:13
Unfortunately I have failed to get that contest back off the ground for this winter.  I will try harder for next winter.

But the fact that MN has literally zero bucks on the payroll beyond '19 opens them to do all kinds of weird things
doothedoo
2:13
how do you see the nats addressing their rotation
Tim Dierkes
2:13
We see them splashing some bucks around on a free agent, or swinging a deal for a solid SP like Ray or someone.
Steve Adams
2:13
We gave them Keuchel! Though that's one of many avenues they could go. I think they'll sign one upper-tier free agent arm.

As a Pirate fan, is there any FA with a recognizable name I can expect them to sign?

Jose Iglesias?

I like brantley better in Philly than Markakis...

Take your pick from third-tier relievers? Or bringing back Kang?

Either fits there. We had Brantley to Philly before some last-minute shuffling. (Which bumped Kakes from the White Sox to Philly -- not sure if ChiSox fans are happy or miffed by that, ha,) McCutchen would probably work there, too.

Which of the 7 QOs do you think is most likely to accept?

I'd go with Ryu.

Fall Down is in last place?! C'mon!
Yeah Ryu

Really more of a Fall Down guy as well.

Hi Tim. What could you see the Red Sox going this offseason, specifically when it comes to the top tier free agents? Do you see anything surprising as a possibility, or mostly just moves around the margins of an already strong roster? Thanks!
