I think Ray's in the Florial bucket I mentioned earlier. Too many strikeouts, down to his final option year. I think the Nats would do better
2:32
Howell and Bettinger feels the sort of thing they might consider though. Bell's not exactly teeming with surplus value but should bring back something. Two mid-tier prospects (40 FV types) the Nats like who could be relevant by 2023 makes sense
Do they like those two specific players? No idea, but that kind of thing feels like the right ballpark

Is it a good sign or a bad omen that there hasn’t been much news reported on the lockout negotiations?
Anthony Franco
2:32
Neither. I don't think many people expected movement before the New Year once the lockout was in place
2:33
It's definitely not good, but I think the worst omen was that they barely talked in November and got to a lockout in the first place. Once they locked out, it always looked like it was gonna be a while

Do you see IKF of Texas being moved and to who for what.
Anthony Franco
2:34
I could see that, sure. The Yankees are the one team with known interest and they make sense. A's and Angels have intra-divisional complications but could look into it. Phillies, White Sox, Blue Jays
2:35
I don't think he'd bring back a huge return or anything, but he's a nice player. High-end utility type or low-end regular at a few infield spots

Josh Bell to the Cards in a trade.  Would he fit nicely as a DH, spelling Goldy at 1b. Or do they take the cheap in house option for a DH. Bell brings another big power threat to the team and doesn't hurt their defense. St Louis has the minor league pieces to make this happen if they want it.
Anthony Franco
2:36
Bell fits there from a roster perspective (assuming the NL DH). I don't know that they want to take on a $10MM projected arb salary  when they also want to add in the bullpen though

Saw your post on the royals ss situation. Makes Mondesi seem like kind of a perfect fit for the yankees. Better offensively than other stopgap options like IKF, Ahmed, and Simmons. Also the yanks haven't shy'd away from injury prone guys/reclemation projects in the past like Kluber and Taillon (even urshela to some extent).
Anthony Franco
2:37
Yeah I still think Mondesi's intriguing. Royals don't have to move him or anything but I'm guessing they'd be open with Witt on the way and Nicky Lopez taking a strong step forward last year
He swings at everything and gets hurt often though. Some teams might just be out entirely

Do the yanks see Gallo and judge as potential CF options? Seems hard to believe they can get more than 100 games from Hicks and their interest in Suzuki makes me curious.
Anthony Franco
2:38
Suzuki's not really a center fielder either, at least not according to any of the evaluators with whom we spoke before he was posted
2:39
I think they're going to head into the year with Hicks pencilled in, feel ok with Judge or Gallo as stopgaps and try like hell to get someone like Bryan Reynolds at the deadline if Hicks get hurt again

Is a Gleyber Torres and Luis Medina for Luis Castillo a fair deal for both sides?
Anthony Franco
2:40
Gleyber's only controllable for one more season than Castillo, and India's emergence solidifies him at second base. If the Reds were into that kind of framework, I think they'd have done it last winter

Assuming Hader puts up another awesome season, what does his FA contract look like?
Anthony Franco
2:41
He's got two more years, assuming no changes to the current structure
2:42
If he does this again for the next two seasons though, man...
2:43
He'd beat Hendriks pretty easily, more valuable than Jansen and Aroldis were at the time they signed their deals. I think he'd have a strong case for nine figures, which feels nuts for a reliever

2:43
Wait, if Suzuki isn’t a center fielder, why am I interested? Especially since I have two corner outfielders and a potential third in Stanton. Do I no longer believe in gallo?
Anthony Franco
2:44
There have at least been whispers about a possible Gallo trade, but I think it's more due diligence on Suzuki
2:45
He's a good player who's atypically young for a free agent. If your scouting evaluations line up, then you should at least express interest and think about possible ways to make the rest of the roster work. If they signed him, then yeah, I'd expect a Gallo trade

What would be a reasonable return from the Marlins for Cedric Mullins.
Anthony Franco
2:46
Something involving one of Max Meyer/Edward Cabrera and Kahlil Watson?
Joshua
2:46
Do the Rockies make sense as a Victor Robles trade destination? Maybe Jaden Hill and Noah Davis can make this work?
Anthony Franco
2:46
Don't think the Rockies would give up that much, but they're a plausible fit for Robles, yeah
2:47
Even if he can't hit, he should maximize his value in that outfield

Best bet to be the yanks starting ss next season?
Anthony Franco
2:48
Nick Ahmed/Urshela?
Let Ahmed play there behind your worse pitching. When you've got Cole going, throw Urshela there for offense since you're not giving up many balls in play anyhow

Must a major league player belong to the player's union?
Anthony Franco
2:48
I believe so, yes

Obviously Kyle Seager was going to be my starting 3b in 2022 how dare he retire on me!!  Where do I turn now for 3b (or 2b if Biggio/Español play 3b) help?
Anthony Franco
2:49
I'm sure they'll look into Chapman. Villar's available if they're not scared off by his awful month there in 2020. The Mets guys (McNeil/Davis) make sense as trade possibilities

There is contradictory information about the pcommunication between MLB front offices during the lockout. We know trades are verboten, but are discussions during the lockout between teams’ personnel about potential trades allowed or not?
Anthony Franco
2:50
They're not allowed, at least regarding players on the 40-man roster. Whether they're having illicit back-channel discussions...
