They're free agents as soon as they're non-tendered. Any team can pay them whatever they deem fair, and the player can hold out for an offer he feels is fair. The new team never "has" to pay him as much as he was projected in arb. If a guy with 5+ years is projected at $10MM, non-tendered, and signs for a year and $6MM, he just becomes a free agent again after the season since he hits 6 years with the new club

Do you think my Cardinals stand a chance at the division this year? The Cubs have improved a lot, but the Brewers got worse and I would take STL over the Reds and the Pirates...

The Cards won 83 games in 2024 and are a worse team now. They're also probably going to trade Helsley/Fedde at some point. Always happy to be proven wrong, but I don't give them a real chance in the Central, no.

It seems like the Rays hitting strategy this year is to hope that two of Josh Lowe, Junior Caminero, Jonathan Arranda, Johnny DeLuca, Christopher Morrell, or Richie Palacios break out as stars and that the rest of the team play to their normal expectations.  What do you think?

I think Caminero's going to be special and am a perennial Aranda believer (at least with regard to his bat), so I'm excited to see him get a real chance this year. I've never been a big Morel guy, and Palacios/DeLuca don't excite me.

If they get good performances from Caminero/Aranda and Carson Williams forces his way up to the majors, they could be in good shape. Danny Jansen is a decent rebound candidate for me, too.
