MTPS: Peraza, Austin Wells, Ken Waldichuk, Deivi Garcia.
12:38
I don't think there's any way it gets done without one of Peraza/Volpe/Dominguez. The system takes a fairly significant dip after those three.

We’ve all heard a lot about Hal and how his priority is maximizing value not winning championships.  My question is: what is the most generous (from a fan perspective) interpretation of the Yankees roster decisions since their acquisition of Stanton?  Is there a scenario where they have had a good or better sense of where the new CBA comes out and we are reading articles about how masterfully the Yankees set themselves up to re-dominate baseball under new salary tax conditions?  Wishful thinking or maybe there’s something there?
Derek
12:40
Most generous interpretation? They're trying to balance now and the future and really believe in the farm. That's more or less why the 2019-2020 offseason was Cole and nothing else.
12:42
As for the second question: Hal is one of the more involved owners at the table and we already know that one of the group's initial offers was a 100M floor and 180M max for luxury tax purposes. That obviously is never going to happen, but I don't think Hal is trying to set things up to dominate with his financial excess.

Is Anthony Steigler going to stick at catcher?, for such a high draft pick we don't hear much about him
Derek
12:42
We'd hear more about him if he could actually perform. He played in just 41 games this year and simply wasn't good. I don't think it's happening with him.
12:43
Wonder at some point if they try to put him on the mound.

I'm one of the few Yankees fans I know that thinks signing Judge to a long-term contract (5-7 yrs) is a bad idea. Prove me wrong.
Derek
12:43
It's not your money. That was easy.

12:44
Where can I find a COVID test?
Derek
12:44
lol, wish I knew
12:45
Seriously, what a nightmare. The CityMDs by me have lines wrapping around the block by 7 am.

Predict who will be the next Yankees prospect breakout
Derek
12:48
I'm trying to think of some middle infielder who will inexplicably break out like we saw last year (like Diego Castillo, for instance)
12:50
I can't say I'm an expert at the inner depths of the org tho. I'll just go with someone else who I kinda like that was fairly decent this year: Jake Sanford
Gibbs
12:50
Do we have any decent 1st base prospects in the farm?
Derek
12:51
Gittens was the closest thing to a prospect before he signed internationally.
Andres Chaparro is kinda interesting, though?
Jeb
12:52
Given your proposed cost in the hypo Olson trade, would you prefer signing Freeman...let's say, 5/160?
Derek
12:53
Yeah, I would. I don't want to prospect hug, but at the same time, I'd like to get a more premium position return for prospects than a first baseman.
Like CF, for instance.
12:54
Any other questions? Queue is now empty. I can stick around for a bit.

12:55
Do you know of any primary sources that would provide us with information on the revenues and costs of the *ENTIRE* Yankee organization?  I feel like all we discuss as a fan base is player payroll, and that's certainly the #1 driver of the team's gross profits.  But I'd love to know what the pre tax and after tax net is.  We might (or might not) look at things differently given an appreciation for the entirety of the cost structure.
Derek
12:56
The team's financials will never see the light of day barring a leak. The best we can do is Forbes estimates on revenues and operating profit.
Patrick
12:56
Based on the scouting reports, what do you think a peak Volpe season will be?
Derek
12:57
.290/.360/.500
Deivi Garcia
12:57
Am I a bust?
Derek
12:58
You were awful this year but you're still just 22.
Martin
12:59
Which starting pitcher would you prefer to add in trade or free agency (factoring in expected prospect cost and/or money)?
Derek
12:59
The free agent starters left aren't inspiring. Luis Castillo is the quick answer for me on the trade front. I'd also be very interested in German Marquez.
John

Any initial thoughts on the coaching staff changes?
Derek
1:01
Pretty happy with them. I like that they mostly went from within, rewarding guys who got big time results in the minors this past year.
Leah
1:01
I was just thinking about the cost of free agency and it seems like maaaaybe getting people cheap in their best years is actually more expensive in the long run. Players get paid in decline bc the system makes it so they are cheap in their prime. Maybe players should always just get paid what they are worth.
Derek
1:02
It may be more expensive in the long run, but at the end of the day, so few guys get the big payday that the current system is still a huge advantage even if a handful of players end up getting 200M or more.
huge advantage for owners*, that is.
Jeff
1:03
Based on the current roster, which SPs do you see getting the most innings (Cole as a given).
Derek
1:04
Montgomery
Dan
1:04
Am I a fool for trying to remain hopeful that the Yanks will sign Correa?
Derek
1:04
No, I wouldn't rule it out until the ink is dry.
