Is Carlos Rodon worth the risk of a one year deal given his injury concerns?  He faded late in the year, but was still a 4.9 WAR pitcher in just 132.2 innings.
Derek

I wouldn't hesitate to sign him to a 1 year deal. Long-term, eh. He's the best remaining starter in FA, I believe.

It looks like the Cards won't extend Flaherty.  Let's say Torres has a bounce back year in 2022.  Would a Torres for Flaherty trade make sense?  DJ could return to 2B full time.
Derek
1:42
If Torres rebounds he should stay.

Have you guys at the "View" (sorry!)  done a deep dive on why Gleyber sucked post the 38 homer season? I simply did not buy that the Covid shortened year and his poor defense explains the massive power drop. At my most annoyingly negative moements I feel that he cheated those years like the Stros and never will amount to much in the future. I hope I am wrong.

Just did a quick search and found a couple of things we've written over the last year. Matt had this Gleyber Torres: A No. 1 Concern - Views from 314 Ft. and I had this The Yankees are still waiting for Gleyber Torres to find his power - Views from 314 Ft.

Seems like the lack of juiced ball didn't help - he was never a big exit velo guy to begin with. I think there were also some concerns about his conditioning previously too.

i can live w/ Story for 2-3 years until the kids are ready , Bryan Reynolds would cost ?
Derek
1:48
If we're to believe the Baseball Trade Values site, it would be almost impossible to get Reynolds without Volpe. That's too rich for my taste though. I'd like to think Peraza, Gil, and more might move the needle, but even that feels light.

I'm not giving up on Dominguez, but his size makes me think a corner outfield spot is where he ends up. Do you share this view?
Derek
1:49
Let's see how he comes into camp this year. He's definitely heading in that direction if things don't really change. Some of the recent prospect lists out noted that he's lost a little bit of his speed.

Any comments on Michael Kay suggesting that writers shouldn't be voting for HOF? He offered no alternative though How about a mix of player representatives (one or two from a team) and HOF all get a vote?
Derek
1:53
I didn't hear his comments. I don't know that I'd agree though. I'm sure something like what you suggested would have its faults too. A few things should happen: actually make the ballots public, remove voting eligibility for writers who retire/no longer active covering the sports, etc.

Who wins the arm wrestling match between Judge and Stanton?
Derek
1:55
Lol. Stanton.

I can see Sweeney having a season like Volpe did last year.  Would he be a top 20 prospect if that happens?
Derek
1:57
Yeah, probably. If anyone puts up the numbers like Volpe, they belong in the conversation. Everything I've read/heard is that Sweeney was a big time analytically-driven draft choice. So if he starts to put things together in terms of results, we could see him move up quickly.
1:58
Any last questions, anyone?

Is there any way to know or even get a ballpark on how much the Yankees profit from a full baseball season?
Derek
1:59
Nope. Those financials aren't public. The best we can do is use the Forbes estimates, and even then those leave a lot up in the air.
Every once in a while there's a leak (I think the Pirates had one within the last 5-6 years?)

who is our SS next year
Derek

Let's be optimistic: Correa

am i a option ?
Derek

Sure. Not a great one though. Better than Simmons at least.

Where will Arias play this year?  Can he come stateside?
Derek
2:00
DSL I think. We won't see him come to the US for another year or two.

Alright, that's all the time I got. Thanks for stopping by, and last reminder: get your mailbag questions in to viewsfrom314@gmail.com. Thanks!
