Is Marwin a downgrade from Tyler Wade?   Seems like worse defense, worse speed similar or worse bat?
Derek
1:51
I hope Randy isn't reading this, but yeah, probably overall.
Drew
1:52
Have you ever heard anymore about what happened with the ellsbury contract dispute?
Derek
1:52
Nope, no idea. Not sure we'll actually ever find out.
1:54
Welp, 1-0 Detroit. If Gallo plays that better around the wall, probably have a better chance to get the out at the plate.
Also, has anyone noticed that IKF's relays have not been very good?

Is Judge wearing pinstripes next April?
Derek
1:56
I'll say no, though I've wavered on this since the season began

If you had to bet who has the best career out of our current slate of AAA starters, which one do you have?
Derek
1:59
It's either Gil or Wesneski for me
2:00
I think I'll pick Gil though. At the very least he seems like a safe dominant late inning reliever

I'm more concerned with Gallo's contact rate, which was always really borderline. his xBA dropped from a solid .225 to flirting around .200 around 2020, and outside of a really hot June 2021 has only had 1 month over .800 OPS in his last 3 seasons now.
Derek
2:03
I wouldn't worry about Gallo's BA, it's always going to be low. That his avg exit velo is down and his strikeout rate is up is more concerning for me.
2:04
Big Mike is carving up the Yankees offense right now

5 of the 13 position players can hit and have no recent track record of hitting... can that really be blamed on the LT or is it just poor roster construction by Cashman?  Couldn't they have held on to Gio and spread Donaldson's money around to have fewer holes in the roster? (And this is before any injuries)
Derek
2:06
Gio isn't exactly hitting that well right now, and didn't hit well last year either. But yeah, I'd rather him + Correa than Donaldson
2:07
Here comes Cabrera again.
2:08
Nope.

If you were the Yankees GM and they're still in the playoff mix this summer, what needs would you address first?
Derek
2:09
They'll be in the mix. Offense, offense, and then some more offense.
Bob
2:11
Thoughts on the Reds? Are the players giving up since the President’s rant?
Derek
2:11
An embarrassment to say the least. How could you want to play hard after hearing that? I'd want a trade outta there ASAP.

2:12
Do you see any way Torres snaps out of his funk while on the Yankees or is it basically down to a change of scenery at this point?
Derek
2:13
It's possible, he has had stretches of above average offense for a month or two over the last two years. But the guy he was in 18/19 isn't going to happen again. I still think he's playing his way out of the organization, even if he hits a little better.

Is Miguel Castro going to be a weapon out of the bullpen? he has looked pretty good in the early going.
Derek
2:14
He's the archetype they like, but I'm worried about his control. That was obviously a concern with Clay Holmes last year, so maybe they work their magic again?
2:15
I think I'll stick around until 2:30 if there are any more questions. Send 'em in while there's time left.
2:16
Monty's through 4 on 62 pitches. He threw 71 last time out. If he's allowed to go to 85, he might be able to finish 6, but he'll still need one really efficient inning to do so.
Cory

Would the Yankees ever demote Gleyber?
Derek
2:22
I don't think they will, but I'd strongly consider it. Better to fix things down there than wait up here. I think the problem is: do you really want to give Marwin a bigger role by demoting Gleyber?
Yankees have a little rally going thanks to DJLM and a hit and run well executed by IKF.
2:23
Of course, now they need Marwin or Trevino to deliver, eek.
And now down to Trevino.
Nordbek
2:23
Will Judge play less hard to avoid getting injured, and if yes, how could this impact his offense?
Derek
2:23
Naw, I can't see that.
2:24
He's too competitive to do something like that
Victor
2:25
Why does Hicks move to LF and Judge move to center when Stanton is in right? Shouldn’t Hicks stay in center?
Derek
2:25
I guess that they don't like what their metrics say about Judge/Stanton in left.
2:26
Alright, Trevino actually hit that well. Still, sucks to blow that opportunity.

Did you see Voit's slide at home a few days ago?   Voit bad baserunning skills/awkwardness  or dirty play?
